80% of ETX is offshore. They have to keep some in the US for some regulations that can't have code for certain things deployed offshore or for HR where you can't have offshore manage benefits and pay for US.

They keep people in the US too because they know they have US workers who will spend extra time fixing the AI slop work produced by offshore because it'll be the US worker thrown under the bus if offshore does bad work.

@de I've thought about this a few times, and I think you have to both penalize and incentivize over the penalty to get this to work.

Basically, give some tax incentives for hiring American citizens locally proportional to how much you pay for them, and tax any roles that are offshored and use that tax revenue to fund both the incentive and unemployment compensation at the federal level that goes to American citizens who are displaced.

I'm sure there's a loophole in there to be exploited, but I think if this could get implemented it would work for a time.

@ag The idea of your theory is not wrong.

The problem is in the word "same". The reality bears out that "same" is not true.

Thus, the rejection of your theory.

Any US based company should be required to hire only Americans anything to the contrary is simply treason. Deport all the C-Suite elites that support hiring foreigners.

@ag

Sounds great, bootlicker.

Please let me know when these sound business principles make their way to executive "leadership".

As many as the company wants to. Don’t tell your employer how to run the business. At the end, it’s all about capitalism. If they’re getting same work for cheaper, then that’s where they go.
