Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Layoff notice

Got the layoff notice today which was originally suppose to be 7/1. Got paid for 12 weeks of maternity leave and never been MORE glad to get the Surplus Letter.

Another job lined up + a huge severance and PTO payout. Starts have aligned and will not miss AT&T.

@OP stop it. A lot of them can’t find another jobs and get stuck in AT&T.

@ew Yes you can IF your 401k allows incoming rollovers. Not all do. However, you are much better off moving both the 401k and pension into an IRA as the investment choices are usually much broader.

@ew You are 100% wrong and obviously don't work for Fidelity. I and many others upon retirement or layoff have taken our fully vested lump sum pension and rolled 100% into our pre-tax Fidelity AT&T 401k and can now actually invest our $ and make money well beyond the few dollars a month that AT&T was generating in our pensions.

@cs Can't comingle 401k and Pension! Lump sum pension goes to IRA account. I am former AT&T and now work for on AT&T accounts for Fidelity 😂

The numbers sound about right. The 401K was yours, regardless. Make sure you rollover the pension into the 401K, your income this year will be high.

@c6 ...Don't hate the player home slice, hate the game..of the 4 people on my team who where surplussed last month all walked away with severance checks...maybe it's not like that in your organization or whatever company you may actually work for

@c6 You obviously just troll without any understanding of how severance and surplus works at AT&T. I can confirm I was management/sales and "retired" as of July 1st, walked away with over $100K. and my pension and 401K.
