I been applying for several internal positions, and today I finally got an interview. E13 to E14. How do I know they are not interviewing me just to show HR that they interviewed enough people before promoting their team member. This job posting looked legit. Posted for 15 days. Hiring manager has 5 direct reports and all of them are already E14

I had a "Courtesy Interview" (which I thought was a regular interview) a couple weeks ago as an internal worker and later found out someone EXTERNAL was hired. I found out from another coworker that this company LOVES doing Courtesy Interviews but you wouldn't know it. Courtesy Interviews are basically being nice to those who applied for the position because the hiring manager already has in place who they're going to hire. So to me it's a waste of each others time let alone giving a false pretense you could be hired.
