Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

@b4 - f-that. I bloody quit. They were shocked. (seriously??) I was always a Top Performer, ridiculously proficient heavy producer. Even based on the West Coast, working with hubs across 38 times zones around the globe) often online by 3:30am local time and working via VPN to 11pm and far outstripped my "in office" peers. Then I was told I had to "go into the office".

Why?

While I work with thousands of people in the company around the world, NONE are located in my West Coast hub anymore, because they GUTTED it years ago. The people are nice, but a total time su-k and I was having to take 3-4 hours in the middle of my weird a** work day to commute into the f-ing office that BofA CRE ridiculously overpaid the lease on. I lost productivity doing that. So I am in the camo that they want people to quit.

So yea, I "quiet quit" in my seat for a few months, but that's not me , so I sent my manager an email handing in my required notice period. (which I did not even bother to write, thanks ChatGPT!)

Did they want me to leave? I'd like to think not. But then again, my severance would have been hefty for 30-year tenure.

Like many, I gave my youth and my life to this company. Which, ok, was lucrative for a while, but in te absence of any pay increases and shrinking bonuses, the math no longer worked and I am worth more than what they were paying.

So handed in my cleats and walked off the field. They won.

I work in an office by myself as all my peers are global as we don't share the same tasks. Even if I were to align to their hours. It's rather stupid to expect me to be in the office to sit by myself. We also stretch our availability to provide coverage gaps that would otherwise require needing more headcount.

All this has done is introduce more interruptions because I now have to step away to walk a longer distance to use facilities, grab lunch at a longer distance to walk the sky bridge to accomplish what I was already doing.

I now have found myself setting stricter boundaries once I have inserted eight hours, I am inaccessible. I have a cheap plastic office chair that is destroying my posture and making us feel tethered to a chair has me looking elsewhere - we live in a virtual economy.

Prior to that, my VPN was readily connected and if I heard a Teams ping, I would gladly walk to my home office and respond. This especially worked well with having two consecutive workdays at home where my connections were not constantly disrupted. I also have a loose USB port for my webcam because of the constant disassembly routine.

Rate us by work merit and not by timestamps, please.

Would be hilarious if all the 3 day folks coordinated and came in M/W/F. It’s compliant and would result in the same overcrowding problem the “fix” is intended to address.

They need to put a countdown timer on the task bar to track down to the minute how much time we spend "collaborating" in the office via. Teams. Starts at 8hrs in the morning and it pauses if you leave your desk for more than 15 minutes. I.e. you take a lunch break away from the desk. Once you get down to zero - clear to leave

It’s going to be interesting to see what people do. I expect a large majority will comply out of fear, particularly for the first several weeks after Sep 14.

@OP Sounds comical when listening to the article. One point mentioned in the article will be true. The employees leaving as a result of this updated WPE will be the ones who were the good performers, thus leaving the company in a predicament in some departments. I guess on 9/14, we will see what happens.

The going to an office to work “remotely” part nails it. So stupid.
