@b4 - f-that. I bloody quit. They were shocked. (seriously??) I was always a Top Performer, ridiculously proficient heavy producer. Even based on the West Coast, working with hubs across 38 times zones around the globe) often online by 3:30am local time and working via VPN to 11pm and far outstripped my "in office" peers. Then I was told I had to "go into the office".

Why?

While I work with thousands of people in the company around the world, NONE are located in my West Coast hub anymore, because they GUTTED it years ago. The people are nice, but a total time su-k and I was having to take 3-4 hours in the middle of my weird a** work day to commute into the f-ing office that BofA CRE ridiculously overpaid the lease on. I lost productivity doing that. So I am in the camo that they want people to quit.

So yea, I "quiet quit" in my seat for a few months, but that's not me , so I sent my manager an email handing in my required notice period. (which I did not even bother to write, thanks ChatGPT!)

Did they want me to leave? I'd like to think not. But then again, my severance would have been hefty for 30-year tenure.

Like many, I gave my youth and my life to this company. Which, ok, was lucrative for a while, but in te absence of any pay increases and shrinking bonuses, the math no longer worked and I am worth more than what they were paying.

So handed in my cleats and walked off the field. They won.

My MTA train e.ticket is good for 2 hours, if you rush you can still use the same ticket home! I'll take the Wechter 2 weeks then another 2 then time off in September to max Labor day, nobody cares. #winning

@x0 We are going to be a consulting company now. Competing with Accenture(NYSE down 50% in the last year, Slalom down, Bain down too). They are the high bar! Just like them, we smart people will work for billable hours and utilization metrics against 2000 available hrs per year. The only minor problem we have to overcome besides hiring more humans is that AI is doing everything that used to take hours, in mere seconds, 24-7- leaving us with no choice now but to innovate by billing by the second and working shifts round the clock!! I know it sounds rather tiring, but hey- that's where we are, right? Surely there is no other way to do this but the OLD TRIED AND TRUE way, right? #winning

Sorry to disappoint, but we'd rather put you in mouldy building, expose you to spores "Last of Us" style. Maybe zombies will be a great catalyst for workforce transformation.
Alternatively,perhaps docking you near HF cloud zone so that all calcium ion your plasma dropped out and you start having heart attack or seizure.
As for premium offering, we'd love to house you near blast zone radius, so you get to see fireworks from up and close before you finally go #WAEM #WINNING

It's like a bad spouse...people keep coming back for a sub-par product. make it make sense. Oh well...keep on making bad financial decisions...keeps the bonuses flowing while I drive an extremely well operating used car of a different brand. #winning

For some low performer like you they’ll probably give you the BOOT right then and there. You’ll get paid your $30 for your unused PTO, don’t you worry. Maybe you can use it to buy big boy pants so you can HANDLE #winning.

I got a good idea, charge each car $200/month for season parking. Assume 50 cars at each site and 4 sites in total , the company earn 480k per year. Better than trying to optimise tower pressure each year. #winning

@a8 Borrowing money at 6.5% to avoid paying a 4.5% dividend sounds like a #winning business strategy. Also, if ducking a 4.5% obligation represents your company's best return on capital option, your business has already failed. Or maybe, just maybe, our executives are borrowing money to pump up their own stock-price-dependent bonuses? I am glad that is backfiring on them.

It’s time to introduce a new Ace elastic bandage in a different color or with an altered metal clip. If done right, it’s could be turned into multiple NPIs. Or maybe super-duper Extreme Post it notes that can’t be removed without tearing. One NPI per color. That’ll fix CBG. #winning.

BofA was very cute with the Nov 14 layoffs. Just a tiny trim here and there across divisions and markets so as not to cross the wire on any WARN requirements in any jurisdiction.

Why the "randomness" you ask?

If they do a tiny haircut here and there, they avoid the regulatory and government disclosure requirements.

(Yes, they are that sick. And @8dgb+1vo6g4Wc is spot on. This Old Timer would gleefully trample many long-standing friends and colleagues to be first on the list for severance. Just tell me where to sign up and I will enthusiastically step into the breach to save anyone's seat who needs the job. He--, at this point, I'd even pay to be on that list.)

To be clear, Viasat replaced 6.75% debt due in 2026 with 9% debt due in 2029. This when we're heading into a period of reducing interest rates which pose better timing opportunities. Cue Gooroo's misplaced "this was a great debt sale" garbage at the next all hands. #winning

Indeed they have the same tax loss plan for vsat as I do. Use vsat rsu/espp share losses to soak up profits from the winners. In the end they cut their losses at 50-60%. I guess MD and GG can be useful for something. #winning?

Yes! You have the right to negotiate your own severance. You can ask for more money, training, outplacement services, etc. There's a reason it's not more widely talked about. You violate the terms of the NDA if you talk about it. Also, what company wants you to know you have leverage??? You don't have to sign anything and can then hire a lawyer. Of course this could backfire in your face. You could end up with nothing AND a bill from your lawyer. Every action has risks. There's no easy answer, so do what is best for you and your family.

You could hire a really big team in India for 200k. How many Mexicans can you hire with the yearly wages of one UAW worker? Assume goodness.

Yes. Your leaders sold you out. You had a false belief that lead you to trust UAW leaders against your own best interests. Since well before the bankruptcy, the UAW leaders have taken kickbacks against the best interests of the members. Many are in jail, including (2) UAW presidents. That's why there's been no COLA since 2009.

Yes, every single time. If you work hard, help others, and document your achievements you get the biggest raise available, at least at corporations like GM. I have gotten the max bonus and raise every year since I started and I can assure you, it's much much more than anyone in the UAW. Have you ever gotten a $20-30k bonus? Many 7th and 8th level non-union have many times. The management is not my enemy. We are all working toward the same goal. If you worth WITH them, you get rewarded. That's how it works outside of the collectivist mentality. That's a WINNER'S mindset. Doing the minimum while complaining and threatening walkouts and calling in sick is a loser mentality.
You can be bitter and curse at me and I'll be sitting here sipping coffee in my paid-off home. It's true. I have no debt. Because I used those big bonuses to keep my head above water. #winning And before you gripe about how you have better job security - I have been laid off as an engineer but I was always able to get a job quickly and for more money. 100% true. Transferable, valuable skills vs manual labor anyone can do.

When you have sh!tty management, they tend to make poor decisions. I feel bad for the people that have to pick up the slack, as the managers are all out for themselves.
However, it’s best to stay and get a package as opposed to just quitting.
