Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Rinse and repeat

We want to save money, so we hire people at the lowest possible rate. Then we burn out the good workers managing the bad ones. The good people leave, the bad ones stay, and we hire more cheap people to fill the gap. Then we wonder why nothing gets done. I'd rather have a team of ten people who actually show up and care, paid enough to stay, than fifteen people who are just sitting around, waiting for their next paycheck.

If it makes you feel any better, I am a top performer and I am staying.

McElfresh talked about his parents working here. I bet adjusted for inflation they made way better money than they are paying people now plus had real career growth opportunities which are pretty much gone at this point. I get why the younger people aren’t sticking around. Everyone can make more money with better benefits if they left. Personally I’m using my market based skills to shop the market. Why would I stay if company B pays me more and gives me more opportunities.

Happening in mobility too. Company wants to rid itself of older employees. Make Agism Great Again. Good chunk of mobility field ops is former H1B.
