Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

sad

I received no raise, while execs... including Hemsley... continues to receive mega comp packages. If employes are being asked to accept stagnant pay because of the company’s performance and financial challenges, exec compshould be subject to the same scrutiny... and sacrifice.

I have been with UnitedHealthcare for more than 20 yrs & it is frustrating to watch longtime employees feel undervalued while leadership continues to be well compensated. Folks are tired of hearing the same corp messaging quarter after quarter without seeing meaningful improvements in our compensation or working conditions.

At some point, leadership needs to recognize that employee loyalty has limits. Period... If the co wants to retain experienced people, it needs to demonstrate that through competitive pay and meaningful raises - not simply words of appreciation. Employees cannot continually be expected to absorb the consequences of management decisions while executives remain financially insulated from them.

Its sad discouraging to see news about employees receiving little or nothing in additional compensation while the company's stock responds positively. That sends a terrible message to the people who have spent years helping build and operate this organization. Please start listening to employees and appropriately compensating the people doing the work. Otherwise UHC should not be surprised when experienced employees decide they have had enough and leave.

been minimal merit for almost 2 decades nothing new. only way you get money is one off bonus to keep recurring liability off the books. If you keep warming the chair you are being paid the right amount since you dont leave for somewhere else to get paid your worth. not unique to this company. It not about doing anything working hard will not get you anywhere. If all about ego massage up the chain. The Illusion of valuse is the key. It all about talking about it not actually doing anything

I worked at UHC for 25+ years, and I can honestly say the company I started with is not the company I left.

After more than 10 years of never being rated below a “3” and consistently giving my time, experience, and dedication to the company, receiving a “3” on my final review with zero merit increase was extremely disappointing. Then, on top of that, UHC reduced the 401(k) match by another 1%.

At some point, you have to ask yourself: Why continue giving more while getting less? More workload. More stress. Less appreciation. Less compensation. That is not a sustainable career.

My experience was that UHC puts corporate priorities and profits ahead of its employees. Middle management is often expected to push the corporate message, but they should remember that they are employees too—and when executive leadership decides to restructure, cut costs, or eliminate positions, loyalty may not protect them either.

After 25+ years, I finally realized that my loyalty to a corporation should never come at the expense of my financial well-being, mental well-being, or self-respect.

My advice to anyone considering UHC: Know your worth. Protect yourself. Don’t confuse company loyalty with job security. And never sell your soul to a corporation that would have no problem replacing you.
