Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

How far has Dell fallen when even "The Zuck" seems like a good guy? :D

https://www.reuters.com/investigations/mark-zuckerberg-had-bold-plan-replace-meta-staff-with-ai-heres-how-it-imploded-2026-08-26/

"To make its workforce “AI native,” Meta explored slashing the size of many teams across the company by as much as 60% in two waves, internal documents show. Staff revolted - and hours before a big layoff in May, the CEO called off planning for further cuts."

MD on the other hand, obviously doesn't care. Yay! (:D)

Nobody is prepping a sale but Bain is definitely in their ear. They point to SMCI, who has 7,000 employees and simply puts components in machines, and they say "this is your competition and you only need to be slightly better than them".
It used to be that every decision benefitted either the shareholder, the customer, or the employee, or some combination of them. The shareholder is the only one that still matters.

MD is trying to trim the company in preparation for a sell. Textbook Bain playbook to make ready for sell.

Slight problem: nobody's interested.
