Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Racism

I’ve been experiencing so much racism since I entered this company. I am not even sure who to go to about this or who to trust, but this has been such a terrible experience. This is something this company needs to work on.

@OP Consult with an employment lawyer to see if you can build a successful case. If yes, you’ll have to bring your complaint to HR at some point but HR’s function is to protect the company not the employee.

Also start looking for another job. Not all companies are this bad.

Find another career or company, be brave enough to face these things, its everywhere. One thing the leaders need to know is the Indians nepotism and that should be stopped. Dan did a great job in cleaning some of that.

This company hates Hispanics. Indian nepotism is out of control.

Absolutely agree with s-xism. I was a victim. It is definitely not everyone, but there are some select clown that still prefer to promote men.

@OP Don't forget s-xism. There are so many managers with small ones that dismiss and/or ignore any manager without one.

They are spoken to in condescending tones and, if the cameras are on, get an "eye roll" when they try to speak up or contribute in meetings.

Since the affected managers are multicultural, racism may play a role as well. Or would that be nationalism, since the offenders are over overwhelmingly from one national origin. But, to be fair, I have seen it from a few white managers as well.

It is surprising that they haven't banded together to report it but since reporting anything gets shutdown and dismissed as unsubstantiated rumors faster than you can say "delighted" they probably feel it would be a waste of time.

A "metoo" movement at Verizon would be devastating for the PR department. Could you imagine?
