@fa You’re so right, comrade! Down with the capitalists who make our American companies powerful and strong, and up with the bolsheviks who want our weaklings to be subsidized and protected from economic competition!

@en he should fu-k off and go back to his own country and get tf out of ours. Hes inflated stock prices by taking 5% of our bonuses and investing them into bny stock. And no you don’t get that back if you “opt” out. Hes taken jobs from americans, goes on his little tirade for the cameras talking up what he’s done while sc--wing over everyone he can including wfh staff for his own selfish bullsh-t so take your bs somewhere else you naive heartless pr--k. Fu-k RV and FU

@eq sounds like a lot of work when the alternative is quicker and cheaper albeit with some short term risk. Companies aren’t run for the benefit of the employees. Before the 1980s, employees were included more in the equation. Since boards and executive committees started being compensated based on share price, that’s all gone.

@en investing in your people is still a thing. You can cut unprofitable areas and reallocate staff to realign with business objectives. Layoffs and shady performance tactics, outsourcing offshore offer short-sighted savings. A little overhead in re-skilling existing talent can be more valuable than on boarding offshore newbies who will jump to the next company paying 50 cents more.

Cuts are continuing to take place in areas that are unprofitable, don’t provide much value, support legacy products and services, or don’t align with politics. Some might suggest that RV has destroyed lives, exited people with deep subject matter expertise, disregarded loyalty, and cheered on the automation of anything and everything with tools trained on stolen intellectual property. Why? Because it has juiced the stock price by 300% and the USA is a capitalist economy. It’s a bank, not a community farm in the Bronx, what do you think he should do?

Stop being divisive about age. You don’t know anyone’s circumstances. A RIF for an older worker is likely just as devastating in all ways as for a younger. And harder to find a job. Shame on you - you are putting blame on older workers when you SHOULD be putting it where it belongs on the EC. Totally dysfunctional and deliberate to keep everyone on edge and now divided. Don’t play their game for them. RIFS hurt at any age and can be devastating at any age.

Sad when you see people let go with young families in what is a very difficult job market. Especially when you know they were quality employees who were just caught up in Robin Vince's "How to Increase MY Wealth" numbers game.
There are so many long time employees that could be let go, either by acceptance or lack of performance. Save someone's job that really needs it and shows up every single day to perform it by "retiring" the older employees. Here's a tip Robin, the older ones are not just going to fade away, they're going to stay and collect a salary for as long as they can. Not because they need it, but because it's much better than Social Security.

I seen some good people get laid off and it su-ks big time. But when you finally see people who spent most of their careers as ancing their own agendas at the cost and jobs of others, yeah maybe it doesn't su-k too much. Maybe that's a life lesson that if you sh-t on people to better yourself eventually life will make a correction.
Not everyone who gets laid off deserves empathy, they already got what they deserved.

@a5 definitely not the same place it was 5 years ago. BNY has destroyed everything Pershing LLC was known for.

I was a dedicated and licensed employee for a little over 18 years and was laid off yesterday because I am remote. The bullsh-t reason I was given was “your position was eliminated”. I am a high performer with exceeds expectations on my mid year and annual evals. 24 hours later I feel relieved from the corporate toxic environment. I’ll miss the people but not the firm.

Pittsburgh IS “Little Pune”! Good god- there are so many Indian workers here that it is extremely obvious! Extremely. Also- my manager’s direct reports were all fired and—-you guessed it—-replaced with Pune people. Just a coincidence- nothing to see here.

@a6 This probably explains why Pittsburgh has been loading up with H1Bs and has gained the new nickname of "Little Pune." Adding large numbers of H1Bs in Pittsburgh hides the current planned headcount reductions from view while marching experienced career talent right out the door. Again, it's one of the company's tricks to avoid publicity and state and federal WARN Act notification requirements. If you recall, RV was in Pittsburgh this spring grinning ear to ear like a cheshire cat after successfully negotiating (telling state politicians) how many heads would roll if politicians didn't pony up generous tax incentive money for the Ross Street renovations. This is just a manifestation of the plan. Oh, he's one dirty bird after returning from his African Safari vacation!

A whole swath of folks were let go in Asset Servicing next door to us in Pittsburgh-! Marched out the door after appearing in a small conference room! Yikes!
