I've heard rumors that if you were part of a layoff at BNY, you're on some kind of blacklist and can't come back. Is that true?

Hi, not true. I was laid off 10yrs ago and rehired 3yrs ago.

The guy was fired for cause for something that major and he received an interview?
@at this is not completely accurate. In Oracle there is an option to select the classification; basically a do-not-rehire option.
But as others said… why would you want to come back?
Hmmm- there was a guy who was fired for cause (harassment) last year and got an interview this year recently for a new position—-!!!??? How is this even possible…or doesn’t HR flag things during the interview part???????
I’ve known someone who was laid off in Pittsburgh and reapplied to a new team and got an offer and returned. It’s possible and I guess in select circumstances might make good sense.
Let me put the converse of this out there- why on Earth would you ever even want to come back here after something like that?

If you are fired, you cannot come back. If you are laid off, you can technically come back but not right away.

In work, as in love, when someone breaks up with you, retain your dignity by not ever crawling back.
Your hopeful expectations and yearning for reconcilliation (even if on the surface, they accept you back) will only be met with derision and disrespect.

They call it lay off but its really a termination. Not layoff in the sense of temporary unemployment with them. they have brought people back as contracted to help clean up messes. Then get rid of them again
If you got laid off from here and applied to come back I’d instantly reject you because I know you wouldn’t be right in the head.
