Going through stockholm syndrome. What is the earliest one can reapply to get rehired?

Obviously wait until your severance is a month or so from being done since the hiring process is about 4-5 weeks from first interview to job offer on average. Some licensed positions are quicker since not everyone can apply vs anyone off the street like a teller.

University Dining Workers Face Uncertain Future

A significant portion of University of Kentucky dining and facilities workers laid off by Aramark have not been rehired by the new partner, Compass Group. By July 10, only 462 out of 926 affected employees had found new positions. Compass Group is reportedly prioritizing full-time hires, leaving many student and part-time workers in limbo. Additionally, UK employees who choose to remain with the university rather than join Compass Group will not be eligible for promotions. The university is still finalizing its contract with Compass Group, which began providing services in July.

Companies Rehire After AI Layoff Regrets

A significant number of leaders now regret decisions to lay off employees due to AI implementation. Data indicates that 55% of employers who reduced staff for AI reasons now express regret. This is largely due to the realization that institutional knowledge cannot be fully automated. Companies like Ford have already rehired hundreds of engineers to address quality gaps. This trend suggests a broader corporate reevaluation of workforce strategies following initial AI-driven cuts.

Has anyone who was laid off from Citi and received a redundancy/severance package later rejoined the company?

Has anyone who was laid off from Citi and received a redundancy/severance package later rejoined the company?

I’m trying to understand whether there is a formal waiting period before someone can be rehired, particularly where the exit package included severance pay, payment in lieu of notice, or other redundancy compensation.

Does the restriction vary depending on whether the person returns as a permanent employee, contractor, or consultant? Also, is the waiting period counted from the last working day, the official termination date, or the end of the PILON period?

Any recent experience from the UK or EMEA would be helpful.

Mount Holly Plant to Rehire and Expand

Daimler Truck North America will recall 400 workers and hire an additional 200 at its Mount Holly, North Carolina facility by the end of 2026. This expansion is part of a plan to introduce a second shift at the Freightliner truck manufacturing plant. The move reflects a rebound in the freight market, evidenced by significant increases in Class 8 truck orders. DTNA is closely monitoring demand trends as it implements these staffing changes.

Ford, Klarna, IBM Rehire Staff After AI Cuts Fail

Several U.S. firms are rehiring employees previously replaced by AI. Ford rehired 350 veteran engineers after AI-driven quality inspections led to numerous recalls. Klarna rehired customer service staff after customer satisfaction declined. IBM found its AI chatbot could not handle complex HR issues, leading to increased hiring. These companies discovered human expertise, empathy, and judgment remain vital for critical tasks.

Can you apply to AT&T after being surplussed?

Just curious can you apply to AT&T after being surplussed? Or are the doors likely closed forever from this company. I feel like out off all of the candidates out there you would be best positioned to re-enter AT&T given how much specialized telecommunications knowledge you would have about fiber and wireless.

Akron Schools Rehire Most Staff

Akron Public Schools reinstated 15 employees. These individuals faced layoffs earlier this year. The school board reappointed them to vacant positions. This move preserves budget savings from their former jobs. The district still plans further significant budget cuts.

Rehire after CPM

Hello,

Could anyone going through the rehire process after last year CPM share their experience? Did you have to fill out the background check information before the offer or after the offer?
At what point in the process did HR communicate about severance repayment?

I am waiting for decision after interview and would like to know other experiences to preapre.

No rehiring per new policy

“At this time the company decision is that we are currently unable to rehire any employees that were impacted by the RIF. This could change in the future as we continue to review policy. If so, we will most certainly reach back out.”

Former manager and adjacent manager gave good feedback to HR. Hiring manager was going to make an offer and at the last minute this came through.

Rehire conspiracy?

Was laid off over 1 year ago.
Found a opening or what I thought was an opening on Indeed. I applied for it, got the email confirmation from Indeed and the email from UHG HR advising to complete the UHG application on the company website. When I clicked the link to open the company website from their own email the job posting was “no longer available.” In the same exact day within a couple hours of my Indeed app.
Wtf?! I’m wondering if its because they realized I was a former employee (from my email address) and didnt want to rehire me.
I thought I left in good standing - I received recognitions while I was working there.

Any one else experienced anything like this?

Northwest School Boards Approve Staff Reductions

School boards across Whatcom and Skagit County have approved reductions in force. These actions address enrollment declines, increasing costs, and state funding gaps. Districts must issue layoff notices to certificated staff by May 15. However, some affected staff may be rehired based on clearer financial pictures. Bellingham School Board approved reducing 38.2 certificated staff positions. Mount Vernon School Board approved reducing 13 certificated secondary, seven certificated elementary, one administrator, and 15 classified staff positions.

Are Oracle employees recently laid off "blacklisted" for rehire/assignment to open positions?

Just curious if anyone has insight - I was impacted on 3/31 but was contacted by Oracle for positions they are trying to fill for the VA. I submitted my application(s) and also have been networking within Oracle Health. It seemed positive, but things have gone "quiet" and I have received the "Dear John" rejects about my applications.

Any insight?

What are the chances I will be let go soon after giving 30 days notice?

As a VP, I am required to give 30 days notice to keep RSU and be eligible for rehire. I currently work in controls (second line of defense) but will be joining another competitor bank as an WIM client Advisor.
The last thing I need is ~30 days of no pay due to being let go by WF soon after giving my 30 days notice. What are the chances I will be let go soon after giving 30 days notice?
