Big Companies

I continue to be disappointed by large companies who complain "it's so hard to find good workers", "we can't seem to retain good talent", and "no one wants to work anymore", but continue to have regular rounds of layoffs where they let hardworking... — read more

How is everybody feeling?

With the week from he-l behind us, how is everybody feeling? I'm still in shock, to be honest. I was not affected, but too many folks I know were. Knowing how good at their jobs they were just makes it clearer how small of a role merit played in... — read more

Confidentiality

There's bitterness and angst in posts on this site and in the reorg meeting this morning about why there was no notification, managers kept in the dark, no explanations of criteria for who got the axe. I'm not a manager or corporate officer or... — read more

Early morning reorg mtg - tone deaf

Completed a reorg mtg about 45 mins ago. They just went right into new org, strategy, putting in our best efforts, be bold, etc. and completely ignored the elephant in the room about low employee morale and layoffs. Almost like they were instructed... — read more

I was let go without prior warning

I know this can be said for almost every experience with a corporate job, but I am now angry at myself that I’ve been dedicated, hard working and didn’t mind working overtime just to make sure work will be done properly. Admittedly, I did it first... — read more

No thought put into decision-making

As someone who survived this round of layoffs and had my direct counterparts let go. Being the last-man standing with no one to cover in my stead is absolutely absurd. The more I hear, the less I want to know. I feel awful for those who were impacted... — read more

Why stay; why try?

Why would anyone stay at or join a company where top performers are laid off, not because of budge, or critical mistakes, or behavioral issues, but simply because some bureaucrat couldn't be bothered to find out their name or what they do?

New teams?

Has anyone been reassigned today? I thought we were getting a new teams/leadership but it’s been silent. What’s going on?

To Ryan Loy

I don't wish for your downfall. I don't wish for your economic demise. I just want you to know how despised you are, and especially the company you work for. We may smile when you greet us. We may act like we care (because we have to) but you and... — read more

New org chart will be posted Thursday.

I heard from the Xenial CLT office that a new org-chart will be posted Thursday. Deff not looking forward to what kinda sh-t-show we're in for. I've heard that they're banking on attrition to happen, and if it doesn't then before GP25 is done there... — read more

Hope this McKinsey gambles payout

I hope the decision to bring in top executives from McKinsey, along with the GP 2025 initiative and the layoffs informed by their feedback, works out in the long run. Many experienced individuals who truly knew the system were let go, leaving those... — read more

Constructive Dismissal

Please make sure you don’t sign anything unless you contact legal advice. This seems as a constructive dismissal under the employment act in Ontario.

This is what happens..

When your only strategy is to buy other companies and not innovate. You run out of companies to buy and then executives sit in their suite at a falcons game and ask what next? Hmmm

Is it too late to volunteer?

I'd be happy to take a package and leave. I got a new manager six months ago and he is the definition of a bully. I've been looking for a new job anyhow, getting severance would have been amazing. I wish they first asked everybody to volunteer but I... — read more

2700 to be affected in total

Has this been confirmed? Pls post if you have any info on depts or how long it will last. It’s not a pleasant feeling not knowing what to expect.

Older employees

Am I wrong, or does it seem like older employees were specifically targeted by this layoff? The people I know who were laid off are all over 40, some over 50. This might be a coincidence, but to be honest, I wouldn't put it past this management to... — read more

So sorry guys, for all of us

It’s not very professional and fair to keep us in the dark in such a manner. We yet have no clue what the target numbers are nor for how long this will really last. Try to keep it together, be supportive of each other. I wish us all luck, and I hope... — read more
