I’ve been here a good number of years and feel such a lack in company sponsored retreats, team bonding events etc. I haven’t even experienced a real company year end dinner. All I get every year is more work. And I was on a call with a VP that said don’t expect any budget for year end event this year. Not that we ever had one.

I am ok without team events. I didn’t want to spend more time at this place.
The new propaganda isn’t posters in the office anymore it’s leaders commenting on employees LinkedIn posts that are pushing their AI, The CoCo bullsh-t. Showing to the outside world like they are caring and supportive leaders for all the hard work ppl are putting in. Plus there are team get togethers but it’s for who they deem the elite and in the inner circle, the tech bros. I have never seen a bunch of leaders that are the biggest buffoons in my life.

@ns haha just the other day I was thinking about the peak stupidity of the corporate propaganda posters, "filters" and such. It always gave me a good chuckle as I was walking past those.

They also used to say that TR was a "family." Terms like "team building," "family," and id--tic statements like people being interested in non-financial compensation are all ways to pay less until they can find a way to eliminate you.
Certain teams used to have retreats. But now? THE TEAM!!? WHAT TEAM!!?!? HAHAHAHAHA TR IS A JOKE BUT NOBODY IS LAUGHING.
I can remember summer parties and Christmas parties all food and drink paid. All got cancelled, they dont even buy pizza for the office anymore. A couple of years ago we went out as a team for Christmas lunch at the end the bill came and our manager said she will pay half and we have to pay the other half as there is no budget for us.

Once there was budget for quarterly team outings (e.g. mini golf, go karts, kayaking), but that got cut 20ish years ago.
Up until a few years ago there was an annual department level (I think) holiday party, but I think it's a been a few years since I got an invite to one of those (probably not since COVID). Mine were almost always in that arcade/bowling alley on 4th floor of the MOA (which closed a few years ago).
We still have an annual department picnic. It used to be catered but I think this year it was only chips and snacks (I wasn't able to go).
At the old building they had some site-wide summer picnic in a big tent pitched in the parking lot. I think that got replaced with some sponsored food truck thing. But it was always too big and anonymous.
But with off-shoring and hiring freezes, it's not like it matters. I barely even work with anyone in the same time zone anymore.
I bet the next phase will be a door dash coupon and some Claude tokens to use on a "team building lunch simulator" prompt.
There used to be an annual kickoff meeting in early April where the company had a hot sit-down breakfast and senior leaders presented the upcoming year's goals. It was a half-day offsite and everyone was invited and then got to go home early for the day. We stopped doing that a while ago.
