Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Are Behavioral and CHC Product being cleaned out?

The SVP in charge of BH, Product and Dental was just let go. This follows multiple senior leaders in Product and Dental being pushed out earlier this year. Is E.B.’s departure a sign of the next big wave of bloodshed? (Not that I think she was a big loss.)

@18z What are you taking about? Dental had the same leader for like 10-12 years up until around 2023. It’s the last few years that have been leadership failure and turmoil.

Been with Cigna for decades and Dental leadership changes have been a revolving door the entire time. They seem to stuff it into a box and move as needed but it has never seems to have true leader/ownership positive.

@12x Yes, but the Behavioral leader pays no attention to Dental and doesn’t care about it. Who is the day-to-day leader of Dental who is actually managing the business? That’s the problem.

@12y Yeah, I believe they call that the “Peter Principle,” right?

@z1 real example of failing up. Now we wait and see who the next leader of these teams will be. I hope this time the right decisions are made for the product, dental and behavioral teams. No leadership in any of these areas right now. And I’m in one of them!

@z2 same leader as behavioral.

@z1 E.B. was not a good leader. Her talent was making phony, cringy, feel-good presentations - but there was nothing of substance behind it and it was all just empty words. She also backstabbed many of her team members. I don't get why it took so long for the company to figure this out and dump her.

Actually, now that I think about it, these are the leadership behaviors that are encouraged at Cigna.

@f6 I know who the leader of Behavioral is but who is the leader of Dental now?? My group works with Dental on some initiatives and over the past 6 months we have no idea who is in charge. There seems to be a complete lack of leadership and the more senior people I used to rely on to partner with and make decisions were all let go.

@f6 "EB was not fired. She left on her own. The bh and dental leadership is a joke and has been for awhile."

Um...EB was the leader of Behavioral for a long time (you yourself said BH leadership was a "joke" for a while) yet supposedly left on her own? OK... Talk about failing up.

EB was not fired. She left on her own. The bh and dental leadership is a joke and has been for awhile. Hope someone is brought in to turn that ship around because the current leader is not capable.

27 years with Cigna, I am sure she was given a nice parachute.

They are getting rid of cost and cleaning up the overhead. We all know what for. Don't kid yourself. Cigna is shedding divisions. They can't keep going on like they were. Same ELT team, doing the dirty work, trying to stay afloat, tossing parts overboard as the ship sinks.

@b1 You know its bad when behavioral health staff are in dire need of behavioral health themselves.

Behavioral is a train wreck and has been for a long time.

It will likely be absorbed by some other group and treated like a stepchild.

In my corner of behavioral health, morale has been completely destroyed in the last few months. My team went from being one of the most positive places I've ever worked to what seems like damn near everyone hating their lives. I suspect they're trying to force people out.

I wondered the same thing. The "leadership" changes over the past 12-18 months have been a disaster and have only made things worse. Morale and productivity is at an all time low in Product. I'd imagine it's the same in behavioral and dental.
