@19k They are saying the reorganization directives are coming from higher up, but that does not mean the usual people in Albany aren’t leveraging them to their own advantage. Behind the cover of the reorg, it is the same cast of characters being shuffled into different leadership roles. It’s essentially a corporate shell game: move the pieces around, give everyone a new title or area of responsibility, and pretend something has changed. In reality, it’s the same leadership producing the same outcomes—very little gets accomplished, accountability remains elusive, and nothing fundamentally changes.

@172 The constant churn of reorgs is The Career Ki-ler. Those of us who relied on showing our value through achievement as opposed to sukking off our execs have had to start over after each and every reorg, starting over from zero again to show our value.

Alas after the last reorg I was doomed as the newest hoarde of Jackarses - management whose names all began with "J" - made it clear they didn't give a cr-p about me because 5 years earlier I had refused to change some test results for the new VP to suit her whim (aka lie). So once she took over she put me on the Naughty List and made sure that no matter what I achieved, it was below par - patents, awards - they always fell short even though I was literally the only person earning them. My management knew it was all BS but only looked after themselves.

At IBM, unless all you do is sukk cokk for a living, constant reorgs is how careers come to an end.

@197 Albany has been a mess for over a decade. Leadership just reshuffles and protects their own while everyone else pays the price. This latest reorg just makes the whole place feel even more unstable.

Holy sh-t, are you serious?! Another one?! WTF is actually going on in Albany? Why is nobody checking on this site?! This is beyond ridiculous at this point. Honestly, all of them—you know exactly who I mean—should be gone. Every single one. When are we finally going to see some actual accountability up there instead of the same people getting reshuffled, recycled, and promoted over and over again? How many times does this have to fail before someone finally says enough is enough?

Lol, we just underwent yet another large major reorganization today. If memory serves, this is approximately the fifth or sixth restructuring in the past three years. At this point, one has to wonder whether the strategy is simply to keep rearranging the organizational architecture until, by sheer statistical probability, they inadvertently stumble upon a configuration that actually works. One day these guys will get it right.

They tricked you yet again! Same thing that happens to just about every initiative in Albany: it died. The site simply isn’t equipped or set up to support it. The logistics alone make prototyping difficult, if not outright impossible.

The leadership running the site should have already known and understood this. But, to echo a previous statement, they truly don’t seem to understand what they’re doing. It’s childlike amateurish. Big, big promises, followed by very little execution or delivery.

It is just another example of leadership hyping up an initiative based on their own poor decisions, and questionable judgment, coupled with a fundamental lack of understanding of the business environment and, more importantly, the actual capabilities and limitations of the site they are responsible for running.

Well now, hold on a minute, whatever happened to all that “RAAA RAAA!” prototyping push we heard about over and over again this past year? I thought Albany was gearing up to become some cutting-edge prototyping hub?

They should seriously just consider shutting down this monumentally expensive site. The place has evolved into an extraordinarily expensive resource sink with increasingly questionable returns. Calling it a “cost center” almost feels charitable and it is not delivering enough value to justify its existence.

At the end of the day, these decisions aren’t improving IBM’s products they’re actively making them worse. And whoever even suggests they are is a mo--n, Albany leadership continues to prove, time and time again, that they’re completely out of their depth, making decisions that expose just how little they understand the business, the technology, logistics or what it actually takes to deliver. They talk a huge game but when rubber hits the road they pull sh-t like this. They have grossly lost the plot line for sometime now.

@aq Lol yup. 😂 The wild part is some of those same managers got shuffled around and somehow promoted even higher. Like girl… BASED ON WHAT?! What did they actually accomplish to justify jumping to senior manager? The team was chaotic at best and hadn’t hit any major milestones, but somehow poor leadership and mismanagement results in failing upward, getting promoted, and landing bigger roles. While the team gets reorganized into the ground. 😂 Albany promotion criteria are truly a mystery. Apparently, actual results are optional. Honestly, disgusting.

@OP - contractors are working based on a 3/6 months renewable periods.
So, when IBM is not renewing the contracts, it is NOT RA's.

@ap I think it was called the Chiplet team, but not 100% sure. It was part of the Advanced Packaging department, which is also defunct now.

@ak what team in Albany? How many impacted? Just contractors?

@ac Can confirm but from what I understand it is an isolated case, they were part of an Albany, NY team that has been disbanded. That particular team is effectively a case study in how to ki-l a program. It was reorganized repeatedly, shuffled through multiple leadership chains, and each “new direction” somehow managed to make things progressively worse. Every iteration seemed to bring in increasingly ineffective managers who lacked the technical background and field experience needed to understand the work, let alone lead it.

Years of overpromising, chronic under-resourcing, poor decision-making, mismanagement and neglect eventually caught up with it. The final management team at the helm had a reputation and remarkable ability to run projects and programs into the ground and, true to form, they managed to do it yet again. An impressive level of consistency, if nothing else. What a spectacular waste of talent, resources, and opportunity.

@OP All U.S. State and local government lobbyists contracts were give 30 days notice to cancel. (haven't heard about federal or other countries).

They have a huge bench in India RN. I guess they have to make room for them
