Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Current Leadership Mindset

After reading so many posts about toxicity, internal politics, work culture, terminating good employees and demotivation. I am curious as to what is the leadership mindset? Have the good leader beed fired too?

@19f Agree with the backstabbing. I would also throw in there to keep your personal life personal. Oversharing thinking that you've "bonded" with your coworkers in the office can sometimes have undesirable and unexpected consequences. The people you work with are NOT your friends - that may hurt to hear but it's true.

Beyond the excessive workload or unrealistic expectations what's even worse is the backstabbing culture these days. Leaders will throw sub-ordinates and colleagues under the bus, this blame game has made Target really toxic.

leaders seem to be lacking leadership skills. They be talking but have no direction in where we are going or how to get us out of this state. Not to mention, everyone here is mainly white. Leadership could use more DEI.

It's not that good leaders have been fired, they have decided to seek new opportunities outside of Target. Leaders with good reputations can land a new role outside of Target. As a leader of people at Target, you are under immense pressure from your leaders, some with zero empathy, to turn business around with less resources than ever. You then have to motivate a team that may be disgruntled and/or burnt out. It's not fun.

I think the problem is that all the leaders are getting so much pressure from their leaders that they are so itnaudated in the mess that they don’t have time to be good leaders anymore. They are feeling the pressure too and they are likely concerned about their own job security. Gone are the days when people used to say we just sell toilet paper.
