Layoff during medical leave

If you are laid off during medical leave (receiving STD benefits but no longer in the 12 week FMLA protection period), does the 60 day notice period start the day they call you or the day you return from leave?

@1dh having a medical accommodation does NOT exempt you from location strategy or needing to reside within x miles of a hub. That is clearly spelled out on the accommodation approval letters.

I was out on STD within the 12 weeks & my 60 days started the day of the call.

Shouldn't anytime you were on any sort of medical accommodation prevent you from being laid off?
Example location strategy comes up. You work from home HR approved accommodation. Comes a point in time where you gotta let them know if you're relocating or not.
You choose not to.

However, shouldn't the leaders in charge of dept and business unit be asking about that? They see you had an HR approved event...one would think wait maybe we shouldn't be displacing this guy. Somethings going on. We had better work with this guy to let him keep wfh even make it permanent or we may find ourselves in hot water.

Paperwork should tell you that it will start day after leave completes. Call HR to confirm your situation.
