@1q9 Now DE says hes willing to negotiate. Any chance this gets done before the penalty kicks in at the end of Sept?
@1f6 Bulls**t, they wanna rush the trials through the court system so that it gets to the Supreme Court so it will swing their way. The deal will still close and I would all but guarantee it will happen sooner than next summer.
Spent an hour or so reading the merger posts on reddit and this is a nightmare for all Paramount employees. There is no other conclusion than to believe the Ellisons got played by Zaslav and WB and will eventually back out and pay upwards of 7B+. The incompetence and hubris shown by DE and his father is going to be our undoing. Fing id--ts.
Look at Corporate. A lot of dead weight there. So many SVPs and EVPs that do nothing.
@OP Considering CBS has senior management that worry about where power strips go on a console, while network encoders necessary for the rapidly approaching NFL season remain non-functional, I'd say a major deal falling apart is a distinct possibility.

For anyone confused about Paramount’s decision…
From a CNN article… “Paramount is saying “let’s go straight to trial in California District Court,” analyst Rich Greenfield of Lightshed Research said. Greenfield noted that “even if Paramount loses in District Court, this would accelerate the time frame for an appeal to the Ninth Circuit Court and potentially to the Supreme Court in 2027.”
Anyone want to guess about the Supreme Court’s decision? And don’t worry, they’ll use that victory to recoup the $7 mil/day payout to the shareholders.
It's probably a coincidence that only states with Democratic AGs are suing.
The billion dollar late fees for this deal are going to make this a disaster. The layoffs will be more hardcore than before just to pay for them…
@a4 why would the states settle? what do they have to gain by settling? They’re not settling before September 30 unless something major happens like they break up the deal and then the whole deal will be changed.That $7mm fee per day is going to hurt and we all know how they’re going to absorb that.

@a4 i agree. it doesn't seems like the press (with few exceptions) bothered to read the text. But does this mean if the courts can decide by June 1, the states will have effectively dropped their case? This only benefits paramount. What do the states get out of it? Also, doesn't it cost a cr-p ton of money to keep playing lawyers on both sides? I guess they figured if they haven't won within a year, it's not worth pursuing?
That's not what it says. It says we are willing to wait that long. It's nothing more than a ploy to get the states to settle. The lawsuit is BS, and Paramount would sue the states to recover the quarterly fee they have to start paying to shareholders. If it went to June '27, that would be almost 2B dollars. The states will settle before 9/30; you can bet on it.
