Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

More layoffs?

The latest earnings call and filings are worrying. I read somewhere that $1m per day is going towards interest payments? Can we expect even more layoffs?

@21q I want to shop for vacations like I shop on Amazon. I want to search for some keyword features, browse some options, look at photos and videos both from the seller and previous buyers, read reviews, and save it to my wish list for later when I will buy it. Maybe I will receive an email later telling me one of my wish listed vacations is now discounted, even better. I can share and compare my vacation wish list with my friends and family, or even with strangers.

Why would I need an assistant, human or AI, to shop for me?

Shopping for the vacation is half the fun of the vacation.

I am so done with all the AI hype. I will actively avoid anything related to AI. I want real experiences in the real world with real people.

@1va AI booking has peaked.

It sux and it aint getting better.

Flash in the pan.

People don't want to buy travel from a human agent and they sure don't want to buy travel from an AI agent.

People want to buy travel from an OTA. People want to browse through options, look at photos, watch videos, and buy. People don't want a personal AI assistant to surprise them with something whenever they ask it to "book amazing travel"

@nj You’re wrong on this one. It’s just a matter of time. You’re right that execution is key. If AI is implemented poorly or half-baked (like what Sabre’s leadership is doing now), it won’t end well. Still, the whole world agrees that AI booking is on the rise.

How is VCP funded at more than 100% when we still aren't profitable?

Everything is great. Otherwise Sabre wouldn't give a ton of shares to CEO and all the execs as a bonus for firing experienced staff. Also, AI is awesome.

I don't think many people want to buy travel by chatting with AI, either text or voice.

It's slow, hallucinates, and the prices blows compared to an ota.

Why would anyone want to use it?

DFW here. Overworked , Exhausted, stressed, depressed. The offshore isn’t absorbing any work. Hope this lay-off wave hits me or they offer the volunteer option.

@c2 Aready caused. Just ask your kids (if you have them), how much they love AI slop. Backslash from using AI is real thing.

Less random AI spending and more focused work on key product areas and we shall be fine.
Walking blindfolded in AI Agent area will cost us more than real profit gained from it. Squeezing it everywhere will cause allergic reaction and constructive ignorance...
