Thread regarding VISA Inc. layoffs

Even hiring in Poland that took place a year ago favored specific ethnicity

"i**ns make up roughly 0.08% to 0.1% of the total population in Poland"
yet most tech teams were able to hire 2-3 of them at least when hiring 5 people. miracle.

@am corporate greed will be the downfall of the west. The new team members only view your countries as an economic zone, ZERO loyalty to the place only to the paycheck.

How you see Indians is how other teams see Poland teams taking over their projects

@d3 again. I’m a recruiter at Visa and belieeeeeve me we would even prefer to hire local talent as immigration in Poland is horribly complicated and it takes too much of our time!!! What you writing here doesn’t make any sense! . Also, Visa doesn’t use any third party recruiting agencies for almost 2 years! . Local talent is hard to get also they don’t pass our assessments.

@g0 Temporary visa holders from India are no different from temporary visa holders from other countries. The key difference is that H-1B workers from most other countries are often able to obtain permanent residency within a few years, while many Indians remain on H-1B status for decades because of the employment-based green card backlog. Basing green card availability on country of birth rather than priority date creates significant disparities. Despite this, it's not uncommon to hear even some people who have already received green cards argue that Indians are taking their jobs.

@OP What do you expect all Indians to do—not work or commit su----e? Visa has offices in India just as it has offices in Poland. U.S.-based employees often have similar concerns when roles are filled in Poland or India instead of the U.S. This isn't unique to any one country; it's a broader issue of global hiring and workforce distribution.

@OP Are they paid less than locals, or are they simply more efficient than locals?

Visa has essentially become a body shop, with individuals entering on temporary visas through Indian contractor companies, then being funneled into corporations via nationwide networks that benefit financially. This practice has persisted for decades, with many serious incidents suppressed and never disclosed by Visa and similar corporations.

h1b/h4 is a deep pocket corruption. The corrupt leadership and their insecure hierarchy manipulate and suppress genuine talent while benefiting from inflated salaries and bonuses through office politics. They are the ones who should be removed, and thousands of lawsuits should follow.

He makes a fair point. Local talent with superior skills is being bypassed, proving these third-party recruiters are heavily flawed. Hiring must be about skills—if you aren't qualified, you're out. Honestly, if there's a bias or racism at play, it's against locals. You can’t look at a slate of 10 interviews—one Ukrainian, one Polish, and the rest from India, all interviewing from abroad—and tell me this system isn't rigged.

What the he-l is wrong with all of you? Quit it with the blatant racism. It’s not helpful to any conversation about layoffs and it drives people away from one of the only forums where we should be able to openly discuss this stuff. STOP IT.

@av yes, exactly the same positions. i know there were hundreds cvs on a single spot sent by Polish people, but seems that a specific race got highly prioritized in recrutation.

@ag is it really the same work? I work in SG office and that particular race are the ones coming the latest into office, often sitting around in the pantries, and the worst thing is their food brought from home STINKS

@OP Why keep blaming H1B and other ethnicity for work force reduction! Corporations select countries that can do the SAME work at a lower price. Case in point, garment factories in Asia offers extremely low cost for the same work if done in Europe, USA, etc.
