Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T shut off my POTS line

Well Att did it. They turned my phone off. Worked for them for 34 years. When I retired in 1993 I think it was. They said free Ld and phone for the rest of your life. Well guess what I’m still alive. They lied

You could do POTS over fiber(Or VOIP thru the modem, ATAP, or the glorified cell phone in a little tower box with an rj11 port) but I'm unsure if that is even an offering still (Fiber POTS) though I've seen a good amount of folks with it in my time doing service calls. Unless you live out in the boonies with little to no cell svc they'll eventually cut you off since they won't want to spend the money refreshing old copper plant unless they absolutely have to. Still sad either way.

I still use POTS (Illinois) and it will be replaced/turned off in early 2027; waiting for the bugs to be resolved B4 moving over.

Fun fact, when they cut you off and make you take AIA as an alternative, they will count you as a "net add" for wall street. So crooked.
