Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Middle-East

It's started here, sad to share, we've received an email today, whole my team. I thought my role in sales is secure, but it been told by HR that this time is most of pre-sales and 30-40% sales will be ripped.
15 years and always overachievement means nothing. even president club award 6 years ago.

Future:
A customer starts with an AI bot instead of a salesperson. With the product knowledge, pre-training and RAG, it can answer questions more accurately than many pre-sales teams.

Need a conversation? Use an AI voice agent.

Ready to buy? Another agent handles the order.

Need a new feature? The requirement goes to an AI agent (or a human using AI), which turns the conversation into a feature spec.

Then engineers use AI to build, test and ship it.

So the flow becomes:

Customer → AI Sales → AI Order → AI Requirements → AI Engineering → Product

Humans are still in the loop, but their role changes.

The interesting part isn't whether AI will replace engineers.

It's whether we will start building entire companies around AI, rather than simply adding AI to existing processes.

I think that's the bigger shift coming.
PS: Rewritten by Chatgpt.

@OP I'm so sorry! I'd interacted with some folks in Sales in the Middle East and I liked those people a lot. Was it just Saudi Arabia? Any in Egypt that you know about?
