I remember when AT&T meant quality, not layoffs and bad news. Miss those days.

Could i have crayons instead. Red ones are my favorite.
Are you talking about AT&T or SBC?
@OP
It's been a long time. Managers were former employees that worked their way up. They knew what was expected no matter what dept. they were in and knew who was doing the work and who was faking it. Directors and executives were career employees. Now its just a revolving door. If you managed a coffee cart you can get hired to be an att manager. If you played a video game or have a facebook page you can be a sales person. And the people in the suits looking down and saying "we can get rid of everyone cause theres another generation of baristas and gamers waiting to take their place" It's all one big ponsi scheme of people.
Don’t forget this is not the real AT&T.
What year was that. Every year (and some years multiple times a year) the layoff factor has been alive and well.
OP- Those days are LONG gone!
@b3 "OMG, No more 2 hour lunches?"
Of course, you missed the point. It is good to know that I am competing against your intellect to keep my job!
Ok boomer. Time to get you back to the home, you’re starting to babble.
I remember when ATT stood for :
Additional Time & Trouble,
Now it's : Amerikan Thieves & Thugs
@b3 nothing should matter as long as your work gets done on or ahead of time. The office games are total BS and you know it. It’s 2026 not 1926. Let’s act like a modern company. Get this demented grandpa stinky out!
I had to commute up hill both ways.
Pepridge farms remembers.
OMG, No more 2 hour lunches? You should report this to OSHA, FLSA, and file a law suit immediately.
I wish I could agree that it's this one leadership team in place currently, but it's not. Look around at all the corporations today. They're all using the same playbook. It's profits, over all else. Peruse the layoff pages of other companies on this very site. It's the same story, different companies.
Time for your applesauce.
I remember when the leaders of AT&T cared about their employees, instead of treating them like the enemy. To further the as--ult on the workforce, tell your employees that their loyalty is not welcomed here…In fact loyalty it is dead.
I remember when an 'Exempt' employee meant being paid by the work, not by the hour. So, yeah, we had to go into the office (many years ago). But there was no 'presence report' tracking our hours. I could take long lunches, and it didn't matter. As long as I got my work done. I could take 2 hours of PTO rather than waste half a day just to work from home the other half. Now, it's all about the 8 hours, not whether you did your job or even know how to do the job. It used to be that managers were leaders. They were taught to effectively coach their teams to ensure whether a person was 'performing'. Now it's all about fluff and sunshine to those above lest you find yourself on the chopping block.
Stank has absolutely destroyed the company. Sad but true.
