@1ye See, I think your observation about BD is correct, but I don’t think it has anything to do with ethnicity or culture. If you put an unqualified ( unethical, unprofessonal, unskilled) person in a position of power, he will often try his best to prove that he deserves it. I think that’s what is happening in BD. Some very ordinary people have achieved extraordinary success, and now they want to exercise the power and influence that comes with it. That’s a very typical human behavior and has nothing to do with ethnicity.
As for Telugu or Tamil people, they are heavily represented in the IT industry, so naturally you tend to notice more of them. I know many other extremely corrupt people in BD who are not from either of these communities. Some of them aren’t even of Indian origin. So I would really avoid stereotyping or attributing this behavior to any particular ethnicity or community.

@1xq That’s what can happen when you have Indians in leadership positions. My friend’s workplace is dealing with something similar.... I won’t let a few exceptional Indians change your overall impression. Some of those CEOs came from top institutions in India and later went on to study at excellent universities in the U.S., so their backgrounds are quite different from those of many BD leaders.

India is a low-trust, high-corruption society, and once you give them power, they will misuse it. Indian managers almost always hire and promote people they already know or who share their language, and this seems to be particularly common among some people from southern India, i.e. telegu, temil blah blah.

Please don’t get me wrong. I have some really good Indian-origin neighbors, and even they acknowledge that these is common among southerners.

@1xd then bd is sc--wed ! All of IT or should I say TDS is useless and toxic but more importantly incompetent.. that reigns supreme .. u cannot find more incompetence if u tried really hard

Those who are celebrating her exit, please note, her DR team is way more toxic than her. She was just useless, but her dr team is useless and toxic.

@17d amen sista!!! Same here. Your skin color can be a negative or a positive depending on who is your sr leader. If your skin color matches hers, then you can expect good raises, promotions and recognition in team meetings BUT If it’s different, you are ignored

@17d that means you are actually productive for the company and do your job really well. BD always promote “yes” men/women as they satisfy the ego of their bosses at the expense of the company that feed them.

@wj really? There are a few black women here and there that are in high positions and I hate to say it they are mediocre at best .. I suppose bd is chasing those stupid awards about best place to work and some sort of diversity award .. their approach is let’s promote some women here and there some blacks some Asians some Indians etc and we will be good

@13f I’m a woman and promotion hasn’t hit me in years because of my selfish narcissistic managers who are only looking for their own advancement. The only women who get promoted are those who are the protégés of the incompetent leaders .. the ones who feed their egos and do as they say..

@wj At BD, it’s pretty well known that women tend to get promoted more easily. I’ve seen the same pattern with black, hispanic, indian, arab, and french women. The only thing they had in common was that they were women.

That said, I’m not saying this is the sole reason for our inefficiency. Male employees play a major role in that.

@OP
Before leaving, she is recruiting another person just like herself, supposedly in the name of “BD Excellence.” Only she can say what was so “excellent” about that profile. Once you put one bad apple at the top, the quality inevitably deteriorates further down the line.

as far as when TP will bite the dust....lord I wish I knew - I mean we all know the board reads this stuff - we all know they can't be happy with his performance - unless they WANT the company to fail - which I guess is a possibility - he ought to be gone already

@h0 BD has been openly pushing DEI for years. At times, you couldn’t open Maxwell without being smacked in the face with some diversity inclusion BS. Not about new product development, market share, or growing business in new regions. Instead, it was a constant barrage of DEI nonsense. I remember my first meeting with leadership where race, and secondly gender, were openly stated as being the primary criteria in hiring and promotability. It was said to be “the right thing to do”. Frankly, I was shocked that everyone spoke about it so openly. At the places I had been previously, you at least attempted to keep that stuff quiet since it’s a clear legal liability. Not at BD! Over time, I grew to accept it. This site gives those of us who are sick and tired of having it shoved down our throats a safe, anonymous forum to vent.

@h0 you are right, although she was a DEI recruit, non-DEI leadership folks in BD are not good either.

@em that is expected in BD like environment, when you hire a DEI useless CIO, layer below will inherit that same uselessness. Appointment of CIO like that sends a signal that skill is not required, so all VPs adopted the same policy. Most VPs are clueless on how to run a modern successful organization since either they came from a failed company or long time BD. If a new CIO can kick all those id--ts, IT organization can still survive.

@ee whenever I see someone with Assoc Director and above title in TDS, I know there is 90% chance this person is all talk. An external agency need to interview all these folks and remove all the fat, but that will only happen if we get a CIO who is qualified for the post. Looking at BD’s recruitment pattern, this is highly unlikely.

TDS has multiple useless people with inflated
