Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Imagine being strung along for two years after half the team was laid off out of nowhere. People disappeared and we weren't told anything until the next day. The real scary part was management seemed completely normal as if nothing happened. Im fact laughing and carrying on in the breakroom. (I have a video of that somewhere)

Long story short location strategy, business as usual and not told sh-t about any progress until a day before Thanksgiving that the building was closing in 6 months.
Terrible PSTD from the entire experience. Willing to throw me and my entire family on the street over some wfh bs.

@s4 You obviously have no clue what's happening. I've been sidelined to BAU work, meaning I have trouble finding enough work to log in a day because due to the fact I'm supposed to be laid off in a few weeks, my manager will not allow me to work on anything but day-to-day stuff. The same stuff the bank is trying to automate away.

It's not always the worker's fault.

Honestly they should be done with it. There are people who have made up their minds that they are going to be displaced. They are completely checked out in the workplace. Pl pl take them out fast. No real work gets done.

Shift your argument OP, to something more like: if I'm getting downsized anyway, why not promote me on the way out? It'll help my job search.

Ongoing layoffs are toxic - no surprise - telling someone they have no future at WF (i.e. remote workers, workers not in a strategic work location, etc.) has inspired many of those people to do just enough to not get outright canned.
Last year I was told maybe October of this year (I'd get displaced). Recently, I got confirmation to extend a recurring meet beyond October.
So...while I'm able to take advantage of this time, I'm socking away $ into High Yield Savings Accounts, my 401k, and my Health Savings Account.

@er Have been actively hunting for a new job since annual reviews were dropped and it was clear they were either laying me off or setting up to manage me out. They keep telling me it's option 1, but it's really starting to feel like option 2 in disguise.

IT and finance are very tough markets at the moment.

Sounds like you all are holding out for severance, so why do you care? If these delays are a big deal to you, start looking now.

I have noticed there are people still 100% remote waiting for layoff due to location and they are being worked like dogs!

They have given themselves more time to find reason the force you out without severance.

welcome to the club. I am in the same situation.

What makes it worse is I got shafted on merit and bonus this year because I was supposed to be done. Now I am still here and will probably get shafted again next February for the same reason.

I was told I'd be let go beginning Q3, now it's beginning Q4, but details are more sparse.

Maybe they cut HR too thin and can't handle the volume of displacements they were doing. Everywhere else is cut too thin.
