Just curious. I had went on a loa for maternity leave the first week of June. I come back 2 weeks ago and come to find out about the layoffs and vsp. NOBODY told me or emailed me. Nothing. I find out about it through someone on my team when I got back. I go through my work email and I see the VSP email. I wasn’t even given the chance to look at it apply. Nothing. I still have not been told anything by my PL either about it. I have no idea what’s going on aside from reading these threads. What should my next step be? Do I contact HR? I don’t understand how it would be legal for me to be out on a medical leave and not know or be told one thing.

Feel lucky in 2023 when they did layoffs they called a person on maternity leave to lay her off while out on leave.
3 people who were on LOA have been terminated from 3 different departments. Just because you are on LOA does not mean you are protected.

People Leaders are given somewhat stern instructions not to contact employees while they're on LOAs. It's a legal risk if they do. All communication is supposed to be through the LOA company.
@OP when ur on a Loa you are not considered actively at work employee so companies will Not inform you of any company activities until you're active at work! So therefore you wouldnt receive an email or notification...
@OP there was information that came out that those on leave woukd be able to apply for VSP once they returned.
@OP I would call HR. For those of us that got VSP letter, went to work and personal on the same day.
@a1 from my understanding they were supposed to send all correspondence to my personal email since I was deactivated I didn’t have access to work email or any systems. They never sent anything
All leaders were told that those on leave would get emails to their accounts they have in file. Leaders were told not to contact anyone on leave directly.
