Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

EG Conference

LOL. They got tired of planting employee questions from the audience. Playing Jeopardy - made up their own questions to answer. Too funny.

Darcy’s analogy about “acting like a renter rather than an owner” was baffling. What was she even trying to say? Her explanation made it worse — claiming renters supposedly care more about “leaving a mark on the furniture,” while owners don’t. It was completely illogical.

In the real world, everyone understands the opposite: renters of homes and leasers of cars are less invested in long‑term care than owners, because they don’t bear the future consequences. Owners protect their investment; renters simply use what they’re temporarily responsible for.

So her analogy didn’t just miss the mark — it reversed basic common sense. If the goal was to inspire accountability and pride in our work, telling people to behave like renters was the wrong metaphor entirely.

“ I support these events because I am a member of the company management team. It is a responsibility of my position.“

As am I, and I couldn’t give less of a flying flip about it.

Because it’s all nonsense.

These guys could just stay home and huff their own farts, what a waste of time. Way below my paygrade to waste my time watching that.

“I can’t fathom why anyone would participate in this nonsense, in any way.”

I support these events because I am a member of the company management team. It is a responsibility of my position. If I were union I wouldn’t participate.

VP of culture and employee experience

Now that the orange man doesn't allow certain "titles", that's the new one they will use.

Every time he tells people to leave the business, I commit to another year of quiet quitting.

Overall I thought it was good, and I’m no fan of the stank. One caveat, but it’s telling, how many times did he actually tell people to leave the business? I think he mentioned it 3 or 4 times. Like that’s not something you’d say unless your goal is to get people to leave and don’t value your employees. Don’t like it, maybe it’s time to reevaluate your tenure here and go somewhere else. Problem is, that message is only going to make your better performers walk out the door, not the crusty holdovers that refuse to retire. They won’t go anywhere.

@a1 “VP of culture and employee experience”

First of all, the Stank could give a rats -ss, about the employee experience. Unless you look at it from an index of misery perspective, which is his target. Maybe that is part of this persons role, inflict the most amount of misery on employees and measure the success.

Second, culture, there is none! He burned that bridge with his responses to the last employee survey. If you want to build a positive culture, you don’t we-ponize feedback against employees that took the survey. The only way for a course reset is to retire the Stank right quick. Unfortunately, he controls the board like the puppets that they are.

@a3 Seems like if you ask a question in the future the answer is "Nice knowing you (insert your name here)"
