I share your disdain for the board and for leadership. Enrique did not become CEO to innovate and lead. He came in to make the financials work. He's not a visionary. None of these people are, they only seem to want to do what others are doing. The vision at the moment is cut costs, reduce spend, flatten the hierarchy (while leaving them at the top), and use AI. For all the fanfare that Enrique brought, he's just another CEO who is looking at the bottom line. However, if we would be acquired, the bloodbath would be worse. I do think that will eventually happen as Enrique and the Board are just trimming the fat so that we can be more attractive to a bidder. Once that acquision happens, you can guarantee there will be more layoffs.
I'm glad we have been able to help the shareholders. I couldn't sleep last night, not because of looming layoffs, but because I was deeply concerned for them. I hope they are making money. God, I hope they are. We have a responsibility to them.
Enrique and all those execs can eat a bag of di-ks. His target compensation in 2027 is somewhere around $35M. He will probably bring home 200x most people at the company. Now, does that seem fair? Honestly it's a pretty sweet gig for just cutting costs and performing layoffs. They love to bring him up and act like he's a man of the people, but this guy is a multi-millionaire who will be just fine regardless of PayPal's future. Meanwhile, people who have kids and need insurance well, that's too bad because the stock price needs to go up.
