Am I the only one who has noticed that the Webster, NY buildings feel warmer this summer than they did last summer? There is zero cool air movement in some of the labs and some of the cubicle areas. One lab in particular, which we used to call "Ice Box," is now "The Bahamas." It is literally that hot in there.

@OP it is very difficult and costly to efficiently to heat and cool buildings that have severely low occupancy so it is an easy thing to cut. I would imagine that most labs in Webster are probably significantly underutilized so Xerox is between a rock and a hard place - can't live without the labs (even if they are only used 25% of the time) and can't consolidate (no money) so the only short-term option is to reduce operating cost to a minimum. Severely underutilized buildings are boat anchors that increase product cost and there are many boat anchors in Xerox Webster campus. The other option is to outsource the labs and have a work process for transporting test samples to the contracted labs - not a popular thing to do for the people who work in the labs. However, tough choices have to be made. Paraphrasing from the movie "Crimson Tide" - "Lt. you have your order, seal that bay before we all go down".
