Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

I'm excited about our future.. lol

Here’s a cleaned-up, more coherent version that keeps your original tone and meaning:

Rumors started about 60 days ago of a possible CEO change, a bonus for employees after a record quarter, and Mondays working from home.

I’d been hearing the CEO-replacement rumor for a while and was hoping it would happen, but it looks like a big fat no. So when I first heard whispers about a bonus, my reaction was “Oh he-l no… HE-L no.” I was pleasantly surprised when that one turned out to be true.

As for Mondays working from home—I’d be surprised if it actually happens, but I don’t think it’s completely off the table. The company is global and we aren’t needed in the office every day, so it could be a real work-life-balance perk. The whispers about it are growing the same way the bonus rumors did, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Still, I’m disappointed the CEO is still here.

(And glad you can use an AI agent after having an IT person come in and type it in for you.)

@bd

That was adorable.

Bigger picture - do whatever possible to maintain/grow the dividend.

To all the apologists who say you should be taking your comp and be happy are missing the whole point. For most folks, Chevron wasn't just a gig with good benefits, it was tied to their identity. Like the college you went to. That's why Chevron has (had?) a few active retirement community. Folks who have lived the true Chevron way, want to cheer it on even when on the sidelines. That's why they are so upset. Most of the people complaining here will be gone on 10 years regardless of CEO, but they want to leave a long lasting company that cares about it's people and longevity. Not just another corporation in harvest mode.

@OP
I know the OP will disgrace me, but I think MW and his staff are doing a great job running Chevron. Sure the price of Petroleum is up while the profits are high, but anyone that complains how a CEO manages a corporate behemoth sure spend a couple oif months in his shoes before you complain how bad he is. Iagree the reorg has been hard on people that left and even for the survivors but as many have said, it's a business and they need to make many. I noticed MW was slow to declare the ENGINE is a major success. He knows there are risks associated with the venture.
I give him credit for wanting to work when he could retire with his 100's of millions and take a Board seat at a few other companies to keep him busy and still relevant on CNBC.
I appreciate the work the ELT do for us lower level workers. I know my wife and kids appreciate the life Chevron provides for my family. Even if they don't realize where the money really comes from.

@a7 exactly. If anyone in senior leadership is reading the layoff it’s only because it beats picking up a copy of the national inquirer while drinking their morning coffee.

Seriously, you people need to find something better to do with your time than post during your workday about how horrible the CEO is while you’re cashing the checks and enjoying the many benefits of Chevron unemployment. It’s not such a bad gig. It’s your mindset.

Life is too short to be so miserable. There are other companies out there. Why don’t you have the guts to leave and work some place you think you’ll be happier?

Let’s not pretend our blowout results are a result of anything beyond geopolitical unrest. The company has never been more dysfunctional. Mike and your mom had the same influence on 2026 earnings.

@a7+1 You are so right.

OP is a frustrated, scared slacker who posts regularly (and then comments on own posts). Just ignore.

So we have our best quarterly results ever, first time for an off-cycle bonus and all people want to do is complain about Mike still being a CEO? Yeah, he's doing a SUCH a terrible job.

The bottom line is if we don't change and keep up with the times we're going to end up being one of the companies that gets bought. Think about his reference to the typing pool. Can you imagine if those folks hadn't embraced the changes that came with PCs? Change is going happen and we either embrace it and get with the times or figure out a way to retire because, as the moderator said, this is happening at every single company.

And if anyone thinks that anyone in senior leadership is reading thelayoff.com and deciding to give us a bonus because of some comments, you are completely delusional.
