Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

I think majority of us in whatever department we are in might feel safe. We are busy and think they cannot possibly get rid of us we are so busy! If that really was the case there would be no VSP or talk of layoffs but I am sure there are teams and departments that will lose people.

Medicaid UM here. We are very busy and I don’t know how we would do with less people. But with technology growing so fast , initial determinations can be made by computer if not now ,soon. Also more auto approved services can be added. If you aren’t an MD, we may be safe for now but I am planning on being replaced in the next few years (if that long ). Plan accordingly and you won’t get caught with your pants down. I’m riding the wave for as long as I can. I really like this job.

@c9 Many of the plans are requiring a review by a practitioner from same specialty and equivalent specifications/licensure as the ordering physician. That is why the MDs are safe. Not to mention it can be difficult to recruit and keep MD’s given the insurance industry does not pay as much as practicing in their profession.

@b7 I don’t get that. I would think replacing MDs with NPs would be a huge cost saver.

UM is not safe, at all. Remember of an email saying some pharmacy tech built ai that helps with reviewing authorization? Go to your email and search pharmacy tech and you’ll see what I mean. No one is safe except Sarah but I would be very scared if I was UM. From techs to MD.

Management is one of them, not one of us.

Don't trust managers. Make sure your resume is up to date and reach out to current/previous colleagues and let them know you are actively looking for another job. Best to be proactive and in charge of your own destiny as opposed to waiting for the hammer to fall.

No one knows what will happen. I honestly dont trust anyone that says who is/is not safe right now. Anything can happen
