Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

Rumor Has it…

They are eliminating all of the TLs in practice management, giving them 60 days to find a new job in the firm with not many other details provided on what then. As many of us saw, once you were ISP’d there was no going back, you were black balled.

It’s not over people, they are still cleaning house, no one is safe. Get out while you can.

@ft what? Functions doing real work for our branches and clients can not get headcount and we are giving PMO 25 people so the watchers can watch the watchers do the work?

@ft If KJ approved the jobs then there is 95% chance the skids are already greased for her "chosen ones" to take those rolls. A bunch of of angry wino mean girls will get first dibs on those jobs and maybe a few "pick me!" boys that want to be like DC. Nobody sane or rational will be allowed into those spots.

@ft the 25 greenlight PMO jobs will be mostly contractors. The recruiters have been hitting me up for a few weeks already for some of the approved openings and I’m like -hey, d-mb fu-k, I already work for EDJ- … but yeah, contractors so they don’t have to let go employees and pay severance later when the time comes. PMO knows what’s up too running alot of the HC projects in the pipeline.

Practice Management is run by David Chubak. No surprises here. But the good news is, Kristin Johnson just green lit 25 new project management jobs in the Firm PMO so those PM folks should start applying over there.

@ed I bet the PPT was amazing though. That’s more important than results for consultants.

@bj have you seen any improvements from ER?

@a5 yes. What bloat was actually addressed in Phase 1 of ER, though? Seems like some new bloat was created.

@ag wasn't reducing layers in leadership supposed to happen phase one of ER?

@d7 I'm honestly shocked there hasn't been a major event with our Tech and Data in the state that it is. I can't remember the last time a problem actually got solved outside of a few emergency bandaids. There's so much stuff that only gets done because someone is manually running it on the side. That work just stops happening when that person gets laid off, quits or re-orged.

I heard PM is getting hit again and then in Firm Strategy they released their new org chart for analytics and all the fancy new areas yet they have no idea what the job description entails, skills needed for said job, salary grade all that. Just more re org cause this firm can’t get sh-t right.

@d7 You really think they care about tech? Once everything is moved to WebLogic and things are at least stable, heads will roll. That’ll be “good enough” to hand off to Indian contractors to manage, and Bobby will get his gold star for calling it a success.

@bm I hope not. Tech is already a mess with a laundry list of repairs needed from various areas. Everything is "on the list" with not enough help to fix all the bugs in our sh-t system. I'm glad that we keep dumping millions of $ though into failed marketing strategies. It seems to reeaaaallllly be helping double our AUM, retain FAs, and tap into those younger investors. 🤡

@br Yeah apparently it is for "security purposes" or something. Which, it might be? But, these people are malicious in nature, so everything they announce is met with suspicious outlook. There is no way we get to january 1st 2027 without another gut punch from ELT. Once CES fesults are in, and LP offers are closed, the hammer is once again going to drop.

@OP I learned today if you don’t (or can’t even if you wanted to) swipe your badge in 60 days you will be cut off and need to call security through a speaker at the parking garage! So gross

@b6 Practice Management doesn’t do anything and CPT stands for Client Practice Transition. These are the teams who support RTPs and Goodknights.

And here we are - one year to the day of associate ISPs and demotions - and look how much better the firm is doing. Morale at an all time low, work at a standstill, and everything disjointed.

Practice Management was hit hard in August 2025 with ISP and demotions … this su-ks for them to be hit again. But they were pretty bloated with the restructure in Oct 2023 when it that dept was created.

Penny is strip mining the company - this is her pursuit of money at all costs.
Every area will be going through a restructuring along with comp architecture review.
Get out while you can is right.

What does Practice Management do and what is CPT?

Post ID: @b6+1m0x2zj6b

My guess is by the end of the year they’ll eliminate either the DL or TL and then combine the jobs into one leader job. The next step after that is to retitle the new leader during job architecture.

TLs in CPT are also being eliminated, but they are making more DL roles in CPT. It looks like trying to eliminate a layer of leadership

How big is this area? Are we talking like 5-10 team leaders eliminated, or are we talking more than 25?

Honest question, do others feel like Practice Management is bloated? I feel for the individuals but how many teams in HO do we need telling branch teams how to run their practice? Do branch teams even listen?
