Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Toxic leadership at Dell

Why does Dell insist on laying off good employees, but keeping incompetent leaders? Can someone please explain that? It makes no sense.

Some of these leaders, especially in ISG, have no background or experience in the very discipline they are managing. They have no idea what they're doing. They fail at everything they touch. Yet somehow, they are safe while their hard-working employees are let go.

What is it? Nepotism? Favoritism? DEI? Or is it just the simple fact that our executive leaders are also clueless and have no idea about how incompetent these clowns (Directors, VPs, SVPs) really are?

One big reason why Dell is failing is there has never been any accountability at the leadership level. They fail, then they spin up a new project, then they fail again. Rinse and repeat. Dell is in a downward death spiral because of it.

I find it ironic that whenever a top brass leaves Dell it’s always “to spend more time with family” to try and cover up that they su-ked or leaving for a better company

It's a combination of many things. Corporate greed and nepotism are for sure two of the main issues. Lay off experienced and (thus more expensive) employees and keep your buddies around to protect your own a-s. This goes all the way up to the top.

The other thing, which has accelerated it all, is that Dell is banking on being able to close the gap between junior and senior employees by using AI, i.e. they think they can keep people with less experience and they will be as productive if they just use AI.

Good luck with that :D

@aq dell is doing massive move of staff into India for long time, go to ODW and check your product locations I bet most will be in India already.

This is whole thing, they fire and hire all the time. quality of product is in downward spiral as a result, but stock only care "how many more AI servers were sold and how many were fired"

Why doesn’t somebody actually do something??? Nothing but all big talk on here. Go take action.. create a group and go protest.. stand for what is right… all Dell will do is fire you, but either way they will fire you!!! Who’s taking the bull by the horns ??? Let your voices be heard…. Not the tell Dell bullsh-t either… actively protest and advocate for the working class people!!

It's the same good ol boy system it's always been. Keep the talented out because the mediocre need the high paying jobs too and there are more mediocre then talented. Especially these days.

Michael Dell is able to sleep at night because he throws more $$ at charity than he does his own Dell employees. It’s all a PR stunt to jack up Dell Stock so Execs can cash out!!!!

I believe that the love of money and power has truly made some evil men at the top. They couldnt care less about how many lives they ruin and they all have more money than they know what to do with. If there is a he-l after life on earth, these clowns will be on the express lane with an eternity of regret wishing they were different in this life. That at least gives me some comfort.

Cause dell thinks it can hire itself out of being a low-tiered company.

A couple of reasons. The more senior and experienced employees are more expensive and more difficult to fool. Also, they do have a tendency to speak up when upper management forces new BS on the emplyees. I mean there is so many nonsensical KPI's I have to fulfill that it hardly leaves time to do my job properly. And it seems that making those KPI's is more important than reaching your targets.

More experienced employees are fed up and demotivated by all this, so many organisations need a constant inflow of junior hires who are naively thinking they hit the jackpot by joining Dell

I'll take a shot at this.

I think there is such a communication gap between those being laid off...and the upper management.

Middle management is the only voice upper management hears.

So MM are protected and UM just cuts whoever they want. Targeting older/established workers bees cause they have a higher cost to employ than an HB1 or a desperate rookie who shares an apartment with 4 others.

Just my thoughts
