Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Our beloved $36 Million Man Has a Lot of Explaining to Do

At what point do we stop calling this a “turnaround” and admit Nike’s leadership sc--wed up? The stock is sitting around $38.

That’s after years of bad decisions, losing momentum with younger customers, getting buried by competitors, and turning some of the most iconic shoes in the world into glorified clearance-rack inventory.

And somehow the people running the company are still getting paid like everything is going great.

Elliott Hill pulled in $36.3 million in 2026 after laying off thousands of hardworking people. Meanwhile, Nike’s stock is still nowhere near where it was a few years ago.

The fact LT still hasn’t done anything demonstrable of showing skin in the game (forgoing bonuses, letting $ trickle down to incentivize understaffed teams who are trying to support this turn around) speaks volumes. Board, LT, all seem wildly out of touch with how employees actually feel. This isn’t LEADERSHIP

@at it does not matter how hardworking or great at a job you are if the strategy you are told to execute is a losing one

Some hardworking people were laid off. But not all the people laid off were hardworking. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. If everyone was doing a stellar job…….. we would be a great company. We are missing basics in a lot of our core capabilities.

Imagine coming out of retirement, failing at your job, and still bagging this much money. Meanwhile no summer hours here trying to get work done and still worried about the upcoming layoff at much below 1/100th of this salary. Life be like this 🤣

Behold the Oscar-worthy tragedy of a man standing on a pile of cash, weeping into a silk handkerchief because he only has nine figures left to his name
