@q3 Exactly. At IBM, employees often become nothing more than metrics on a spreadsheet. And in Albany, it can go even further as employees are very frequently used to advance management’s own hidden personal agendas rather than the interests of the business or the people doing the work.

@q3 At IBM, management is as useless as it can be. It is just a gathering of stinking POS.

At IBM and other technology companies, terrible management treats their employees as a number. There is no human element anymore to decent management. If you are sales, you are measured on your quota attainment and utilization if in services.

@bk
PIP's are in the US, not India. PIPs are a tool used by the slimy Indian at the top to:
1- Increase his fat bonuses $$$$$
2- Increase the headcount in India.

Could you give us more info? Which country? Was it a surprise? How did your performance reviews go the past few years?

@OP How was your last annual performance appraisal before you were put on the PIP? It would be helpful if you would be able to demonstrate (in a court of law) that the placement of the PIP, itself, was an unjustified action.

And - while you were on the PIP, were you receiving any kind of commentary, rating, etc. as to whether or not you were meeting expectations, or need more improvement, etc., etc.?

Go get 'em; and best of luck to you!

@ax they often give vague reasons like “not performing at band level”.

@ac No whine for me, thank you. I think I'll have a bunch of gripes instead.

I’m sorry that happened to you. Did they say you didn’t meet metrics expectations? What was the reason given? So sorry.

Was it because you didn't mumble enough broken English on calls and because you didn't take off work for your brother's wife's sister's cousin's second cousin's 3 day wedding with Fish Curry for the main course?

Or was it that you actually are in touch with reality and didn't spout useless non-sense about quantum computing on Jim Cramer's mad money?

@OP
Thank you for airing your issues with IBM. There are many similar stories like yours.
Most feel ashamed to air their experience with IBM. It is better that anyone affected by IBM slimy actions makes it public.
It might help any prospect wanting to join IBM to think twice.
It drags down IBM reputation down more with prospect clients.
Finally, it puts pressure on the slimy Indian and his cabal.
