The company has me in a state of mind where being laid off seems preferable to staying here. Just imagine how bad things are if somebody who's been here for over a decade is thinking that way.

@bb some people didn’t have the VSP option. I did not. I wish I would be let go at this point. Certainly looking elsewhere now, but need a paycheck or unemployment at least.
@az I gave my notice last week. I am still here. I also was hoping for the layoff.

The writing was in the wall. I think if you didn't see it your deductive reasoning is in question. Companies don't offer company wide VSP if they don't plan on future cuts. See UPS and other companies doing the same. I think the poster asked a valid question. Harsh maybe but valid. If you wished to be laid off why not accept the offer to be laid off?
@b2 Please stop with the why didn't you take the VSP. It didn't make sense for everybody. Some states you could not collect unemployment so some chose to take their chances and get a lesser severance (which is only 4 weeks less) if it came to that with unemployment with it. Also not everyone's vsp package was worth it.
@b2 I think you lack comprehension skills. Nobody knew it was going to be like this. Nobody knew their plan was to destroy the company and morale. Don’t worry OP they plan to continue layoffs throughout the rest of the year and next.
They did. It was the VSP. Mind sharing your thoughts in why you didn't take it at the time since you now wish to be I sped?
I was offered a job that starts in two weeks. I won’t be giving a notice in fear of being let go that day. However I debated on if I should leave. All of this being hidden has gave me the clarity. I work in the company and would have no idea about layoffs had I not found this form. I also wish I was offered a rif now. It’s so hard to just be quiet and act like nothing is going on. Prayers to everyone. I hope you all find better work.
