Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Explain

Can someone honestly explain to me what someone gets by posting rude comments on another persons post? Is it to just stir the pot see how many downvotes they can get or people responding? To really think they are better cause some of us are really struggling is completely unnecessary I don’t get it! They are here on this site yet are just complaining and being negative!

@ck i agree with the not yelling or cursing at people. I personally don’t do that. But I do think calling out bad direct leadership and executive leadership and bad corporate treatment of employees when it calls for it, which of course can come across as being rude. But sometimes things Jesus said to tje Pharisees and Sadducees probably appeared as rude. But we know Jesus is God and sinless. What I am saying is times where hard truths need to be called out and said. But, yes, I agree that we all need to be careful to keep our emotions in check. With the only clarifier being that for those that are really in a bad financial or health predicament brought about by this company, I think we need to be more charitable and understanding when they fly off the handle a bit…because we are not in their shoes…at least not yet.

@bm all of that is true for some of the rude comments. But I have seen serious nastiness in some of the posts and comments, nastiness that is not normal.

Feeling miserable during stressful situations is normal, but a well adjusted person doesn't feel the need to bring everyone around them misery and poisonous personal words.

But I also agree, people are going through it, the more well adjusted and the sour miserable ones. I am in the middle of the two and have to keep my snarkiness and pessimism in check, but at least I have enough frontal lobe to attempt to not pi-s my bad mood all over people. I see some some posts and comments and I yell out loud, "what are you? A fvcking id--t", but I don't type that out to them. I write something closer to how I would speak to them face to face, or I keep it scrolling.

I think perhaps some of you posting concerns about having to put up with a bit of rude comments have lost perspective on what many are dealing with.

Many posting on these layoff boards have faithfully and loyally served these corporations in some cases for decades. Losing one’s career has been studied by psychologists and sociologists as being similar to the loss of a loved one.

So, there is bound to be a grieving process. Also, for many it is not just the loss of their jobs but it is also a feeling of betrayal. It is bad enough to be thrown away like a dirty tissues but to make matters worse it is the how they have been thrown away. Many are being unfairly starved of work, accused of being lazy, and then replaced with either cheaper non-citizen labor or else AI.

Many of these now thrown away outcasts, at no fault of their own, are now losing their work friendship network, their daily routine, and perhaps soon their health and quality of life. Many now will have to worry as to how they are going to be able to afford to get the car fixed, meet their monthly bills, afford to buy groceries, and be able to take care of self and family members that rely on them.

So, sorry if, in your rosy continuing successful world where the money continues to roll in, you have to put up with reading a few “rude” posts from persons who are desperately hurting as their world feels to them is completely crashing in.

I would go so far as to say that their so called “rudeness” is both normal, given the circumstances, and even justified.

@ah I’m interviewing with another MCO and asked a simple question on their layoff page and was also met with rudeness. Miserable people are everywhere 😩

It is strange that the Centene layoff page has so much hostility. On other company pages, people keep it civil. Here, normal or positive comments bring personal attacks and accusations of being HR. It really makes the company culture seem toxic.

Perceptions of rudeness can vary, as what seems offensive to one person might be acceptable to another. While everyone is entitled to share positive, negative, or neutral opinions without it defining their authority, personal attacks and cursing cross the line. It is disheartening to see professionals resort to hostility rather than respecting diverse viewpoints. I always strive to remain respectful even when I disagree, but it seems some users look for attention rather than constructive dialogue.

@ad Original OP here and I promise I am not HR. I was really just trying to figure out why people make comments on people’s posts that are really negative in a way like who cares who took the VSP how does it concern anyone in any way? I took it, I have august 2027 date and wish it was sooner but the ones waiting to see if they are RIFD just want to vent or maybe feel better reading or posting on this site to get things off their chest. Scary times

Some of us aren’t rude, we’re just trying to stop the fear mongering people share here to shake folks back into reality and stop them from making rash decisions. There’s always two sides. Sometimes we have to be rude to get that point across.

Some ppl are real azzhats!

They really get their jollies off on being mean. They claim they are just "telling it how it is", but in truth they are miserable people that never found positive coping strategies for their past hurts and just transfer that pain onto others.

It's definitely them, not you.

People are just rude. So sad. Too much hatred in this world. Let’s agree to disagree and do so with some respect.
