Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

@g1 Glad someone said this. When people have given 25 years to a company, the least they deserve is empathy. Life has already taught them plenty they know the reality. People are going to be shocked, and some will get emotional, and that’s just being human. It’s a shame, but sometimes the only way people learn why empathy matters is by ending up in that situation themselves.

@ej What we expect from HR.. just simple professionalism and dignity while terminating an employee. I am quite aware you are doing job but you could do it the way you are expected to.. You can't be a stone hearted while talking to the people being terminated..

Don't you have 6 minutes to talk on the call about the process ?? and you call security on them ?? they have contributed A LOT over 25 years to Fiserv.. than you can ever do..

HR is EVIL..

@br AND I am sure the HR Director didn't even have 6 minutes to talk to these long term loyal employees while terminating.. just hands out a FAQ sheet and tells to go get everything they need from Ask HR agent.

AI Agent does a better job than these unprofessional , Inhumane Resource folks.

Omaha HR is Redundant anyway.. Need to go.

@f4 Sh---y Fiserv doesn't give a penny when getting rid of long time loyal employees. But pays a TON of fee for H1B visa. I worked 25+ years, didn't get a cr-p.. instead they showed the reason as freaking performance.. my foot...

Over the 25 years, I have received multiple performance based awards and promotions/bonus..

Fiserv is a cr-ppy con place now..

Fiserv does zero retirement payout. The only thing you might get is not losing some of your RSU's if you are lucky to have those.

@f4 they were young enough to go find other jobs if they wanted...

@ek I didn't realize Fiserv's retirement payout would be small. That's not normally the case. I know folks who were in their 40s and 50s at airlines and even Microsoft, had 20+ years of employment there and were offered really good retirement packages right before they did layoffs. They were going enough to get that huge payout and still go find another job if they wanted.

Good point. Why should we lay them off with six months worth of pay, when we can offer them a much smaller retirement package?

I've had a coworker cancel their scheduled retirement so that they could get the severance from the layoff instead.

@b8 Not sure what you expect from HR. They are hired g-ns, process robots to achieve the reduction goal. I'm sure many of them realize the painful plight of those employees. They're doing their job - unfortunately for us empathy is not required. Pull yourself up and plan for your future, before and after a RIF hits you.

Why don't they offer long timers a retirement package rather than lay off? So unfair. They've given so much of their life to this company, only to be discarded like trash.

@av These layoffs are not about performance or badge-ins Go read other threads. They literally asked people leaders for a list of names of their staff, not people in PIPs or low performers. It's just about numbers right now. There is no logic. They just need to cut 8%. NONE of us are safe. Just prepare as best you can. Update your resume and start looking now while you have a job and aren't emotional, in shock, and frantic.

@bs they are walking people out same day, Fiserv doesn’t give notice, they just send you an invite with some HR person you’ve never heard of and cut your access to all systems within the hour.

I know a couple of folks who got let go from Omaha, and both had worked there for more than 25 years.

@b8 Going through a termination is hard enough without an HR team that shows no empathy. I think a lot of HR staff handling these situations are younger and just don’t have the life experience to handle them with care. It’s important to speak up when you’re treated this way. I did, and I don’t regret it

The Human Resources in Omaha MUST go. Redundant and don't represent Fiserv values.

Very unprofessional and treated other long term ( 25+ years ) Fiserv employees with no dignity and professionalism while terminating.

All I've heard is that part of the fraud dept was hit...knew a gal who worked there for 30+ years and she called and told me she got the boot. Been telling her for a while the writing was on the wall and to explore other options but hey hindsight is 20/20. Hang in there as best as you can my Omahomies
