Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Place your bets!

Okay, folks. So what do y'all think is the over/under on the company changing the "new" VSP approval/denial date of the 27th to something another 2-3 weeks out?

I just have this bad feeling about it, and that it's going to happen by the end of this week. The email will start with the old go-to excuse of "we need more time to make strategic business decisions," blah blah blah.

Could I be wrong? Sure. But given their recent track record, I doubt it. Even though VSP folks have gotten their "choose your separation date" emails and the claim is that "you'll know if your role is affected by early August," such a change wouldn't shock me in the least.

My St Louis labor and law attorney is waiting for them sc--w up one more time with the date. He already has stuff outside of this issue. I want released on 9/4/26 just like my most recent letter states. He says any changes to this and what we have from other issues inside CNC. Age, medical, creating and unsafe psychological environment. He specifically noted any who notes in your accommodations with HR show anxiety and depression will increase the expected severance pay. Interestingly my PL was going nowhere and was drinking the Jim Jones Kool-aid and their last day is to tomorrow. It’s sad because they need their job. But us who are in our 60’s are being treated disrespectful after giving decades of loyalty to them. I can’t take it anymore.

And I just got a popup that cnc is pulling out of 3 more Medicare markets. Again not thinking about how their actions are affecting others. I just wonder what a 25% paycut would do for the company if some of these people would rid themselves of the greed. I’m just about ready to quit and let them have my money if they would promise to make sure it directly goes to our destitute communities for something instead of cutting their services. I really wish HR was communicating about. EAP for members who not handling this well. Even the other services would be helpful to be reminded of availability. The offer of LHH is ridiculous the two who led my session sounded like they were stuck in the 80’s and was very disappointed in their presentation and would even provide a copy of the slide deck to review. What a sh.tshow SL maybe you can use your status and wealth and build a tennis club. A people leader you are not but maybe your Harvard friends can help you when you are on the streets. It’s coming for many, woman ceo and up and coming business leader knows how to destroy a company. Remember this was promised before Mr Trump was re-elected and don’t be fooled by the big beautiful bill talk. What about all the money you made during Covid due to people limited in using services. I could go on, go back and listen to MN talk to congress about this a few years before his death.

@bw no, when they let you go it will be on there date they give you. And whatever your state does for PTO weather it pays it out or not you need to be mindful as best your can and use it if you have to

@c6 I spoke with someone in HR who said no PLs have been notified by Corporate which employees have opted in for VSP. She said only VP level & above are aware. I don't believe it. My PL swears she knows nothing. I was also told that employees who accepted VSP would not be targeted for PIP, etc. But I don't believe anything that anyone says in this company.

I don’t think the notification of approval/denial will change. but I wouldn’t be surprised if they tell us they don’t yet know our last day.

my PL has shared that more applications were received than expected and most likely separation dates will be staggered.

@bw You mean layoff timeframe? I doubt it but they are rolling the layoffs for sure. Especially in CA- they can't lay off all at once and they will stagger. It will be a lottery for the rest of us.

@ae you think those of us laid off not taking the offer will get to pick our pay off timeframe?

I applied for the VSP and also haven't received any feedback from the company about it by email. It would be nice to hear something soon.

@OP I haven't gotten a "pick your separation date" email. Are there others of you who applied for VSP who also haven't received that email?

If they keep pushing it out beyond what’s been said already l would resign (which I know they would prefer) rather than hanging on for who knows how long.

@OP While their behavior gives us all reason to be suspect, with investor call, I feel that will know by the 27th. What has me more worried is the separation date. Will it be Sept. or does the letter say to pick a date and we wait again. Personally, I want to wrap this up asap. Good Luck Everyone.

I think they will start sending them Monday night which is a week from tomorrow and people will be getting the responses all that week. I predict many more people will be asked to choose a separation date which could possibly be in 2027. Then the real party starts within the next 2 weeks. RIF will be without warning or lead time and there may be no predictable pattern. This is what happens when very large numbers are involved. You just can't predict and even the state you are in may be critical in the sense of timelines.

In my opinion, they are going provide an update with a finalized date on the earnings call about VSP to their investors and perhaps a reason why. investors want clarity , i don’t think kicking the can down the road bodes well for their stock. The restructuring/VSP result date is just too close to their earnings call to be a coincidence,
