Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

@vj Make me an offer and I'll go. Meanwhile the client has money to burn, and DXC is quite happy to help them burn it billing for at least 4 people including myself doing pretty much nothing from one week to another. I thought it was short term. It seems like it's for the long haul. When they do actually need us don't be surprised if it takes us a while to re-engage brain.

Just go on to employee connect and find the process and then email the address and cc your manager (as per the instructions). Then wait, there's nothing else you can do. Worked for me, so can't look up the email address now but others have already posted it I think

@jp The not longer want people applying just to see what the number is. You can apply and say I want to leave, someone reviews it and says yes or no. If they say yes then HR work up the formal quote and paperwork, and you get a short time to accept and go. On the basis you applied, it's assumed you'll say yes and be gone fairly quickly.

I assume the org say no assuming people will say oh well and quit anyway - fools - I have nothing to do other than keep Teams green all week. Why would I just quit. So we carry on playing the game, and eventually one of us will cave in.

@jp yep, exactly like that. You probably want to be committed to leaving before you do it. but just make sure to explain to them that you're not being given any work. If you're already miserable, ask your manager to look for a new account so you can tell them you've been benched for x months.

@hc how does this process work then? A few years ago you applied, had to get manager approval, then HR did a quote and you could then either accept or reject it (but your card was marked as a flight risk). Is this still the case in the UK?

@hc Yes I've used the process, but told but I have an assignment. I literally do nothing other than attend status calls and watch a board with about 50 people yabbering away about stuff of which I have absolutely no involvement. Occasionally when something relevant to my areas crops up I have about 5 other colleagues who are on it already all desperate to be the one to fix it. I don't need to play this game.

@dm It's irrelevant my stupid account says it needs me full time, but doesn't actually seem to have any work to be done. Annoying because they won't admit there is no work - it's all just fluff. DXC could have let me go 6 months back and just set my teams status to green and carried on billing the client for all the value I've actually added in that period.

I was told there is not VR program, blank looks all round from the management. So I asked what do you want me to do then. Still waiting for an answer - 12 weeks on! It seems the job is be available just incase the client needs something. Meanwhile bill 40hrs a week to waiting to be told what to do, or until such time as the client notices and goes ballistic at being charged all these hours for nothing. Then a VR might be available. Or maybe they hope we'll just get bored and quit. The game is to be available enough without driving ourselves crazy just waiting for nothing.
