Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

MyWork requests

Anyone have experience getting approved to work remotely to help a family member with medical issues? My mom lives with me and broke her hip a while back. She’s coming home from rehab soon and I need to work from home for a while to be safe. She’s fine with her walker so I don’t need to help her all day. With WPE changes, wondering if it’s even worth my time applying.

I was denied and put my retirement notice immediately. The funny part is that 6 months later I got a call asking me to return. I said yes, and have been home ever since. If you are valuable, they will work with you. If not, take FMLA, or leave.

I’m so sorry for those of you who were denied in such difficult circumstances. I know it says you cannot be a primary caregiver, but it feels like they will deny you if it sounds like you will be a caregiver while also denying you for your loved one not being sick enough to be at home with them. The lack of compassion is astonishing.

I asked for that WFH accommodation for 30-60 days so I could be near my mom who was being released from the hospital after having a heart attack and they would not approve it.
I was too done with them after that.

@cq Yep, just like @a5+1m0v8k4vy, I am planning to give my retirement notice for primarily the same concerns for my spouse. Work-Life balance coming to an end with more restrictions on 9/14 to be followed by 4-5 days/week in the office (TBD). I just see the WPE update as another ploy to get rid of employees without severance. What I don't understand is that is it is becoming more difficult to obtain medical accommodation today than it was before COVID?

FYI...Just received the FLU vaccine email notice. Like the vaccine is going to make me safe in the office. Cough, Cough!!!

Sadly it will be declined. Others will be more optimistic but the end result will be declined with 100% certainty

@OP
Manager discretion up to 45 days remotely.
Beyond that, medical accommodation / personal hardship though the accommodations team. Can be approved up to 3 months.

If you don't ask you don't get. Worst that will happen is they say no. I retired a few years ago when they wouldn't let me stay home to take care of my wife. She passed last year but I had 2 good years with her after I left. Needless to say "work life balance" is just a load of male bovine excr-ment.
