What’s Chevron India actually doing? Any big successes? Genuinely curious.

@a1 They certainly know more than the “leaders” assigned to supplement the gaps in workflows.
The Wells org for example, the same L2s / L3s that selected workflows they don't understand to transition over, also selected L4 “technical” supervisors (team lead level) who’s skills are limited to managing up and event planning.
Pay attention to who is traveling to India for these upcoming visits; the Engine needs well written and very detailed support to succeed (obvious); offshore Wells responds with assigning the least detailed, least technically competent team lead to make it work. #failbydesign
My experience (not at Chevron) was India got at least one PM fired in the EC and basically tied us part of their team fixing their mistakes which were really stupid. The Indians are nuch better at arguing than doing engineering. I didnt see the exact hours and how much the EC ate but I would guess the civil structural, piping and electrical work was 50% to 100% redone on fixed budget, so the EC lost money. Lots of mistakes which we were forced to live with. Took the process work away.

We could be losing $500 million a year in Engine and LT would say it’s a success.
This all started when the big EPC contractors created so-called high value centers overseas. In other words, they found cheap, inexperienced labor. The result was bad drawings and engineering. Rework was the order of the day. It's a failed experiment just like socialism and communism. It all looks good on paper but fails miserably in reality.

Outsourcing engineering to India kicked off around 25 years ago. A generation has gone under the bridge since then. If it’s not succeeded by now, it’s not going to. Throw into that unawareness of the caste system, fabricated qualifications, low pay when compared to peers, a transactional culture that is only interested in getting things off their desk, poor quality work and zero ownership of the assets and my money is on this being a failure.
First you need to understand what the real goal of ENGINE is: it is to be an in-country pipeline for leaders of Indian nationality to hire their friends, family, and acquaintances still in India and then eventually bring them to the US as expats.
This is the pattern everywhere. It’s part of Modhi’s soft power strategy to leverage the Indian diaspora. A few get in and crack the door, send more work to India so that they can hire others they know and then bring them to the US and give each other promotions to higher levels of leadership to accelerate the cycle.
The flywheel is just starting. It might already be inevitable at this point and we have western leaders who are too stupid or too greedy to care.
