Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

What if we just stopped?

At what point do we employees just stop playing along with this ridiculous RTO policy?

Seriously, what happens if we collectively decide that enough is enough and stop treating 5x RTO like it’s some sacred commandment?

They can’t fire everybody. And if they tried, they’d have an even bigger problem on their hands - like a massive talent and productivity disaster worse than we are already seeing.

The irony of this whole thing is “leadership” has created a policy so unpopular that the only thing keeping it functioning may be the assumption that everyone has to comply individually.

Maybe it’s time to start asking what happens when employees realize they have leverage too.

Five-day RTO isn’t inevitable. It’s a BS policy no others in the industry follow. A policy we didn’t even follow ourselves for decades before Covid, and policies can be changed. Maybe that’s what it takes.

It is still used to determine layoffs, as we lost a 5 people due to RTO. A couple based on not relocating and 3 others based on trying to game the presence tracker....

@OP
So do it. Why come onto a layoff forum asking what ifs? No one on this sight gives 2 sh..its. 90 percent of the posters on here dont even work for the company any longer.

No, they won’t fire everybody. But they’ll just pick a couple to fire as an example. People that usually are really good employees just to show that there is no loyalty. Go ahead and try it out and see what happens.

@dk I will NEVER stop complaining until I’m either paid to leave or RTO rolls back… If you don’t like it don’t come to this site. What is it that you expect to find here? Company rah-rah and an RTO kumbaya? How d-mb are you? Go post your id--tic bootlicking commentary on yammer, cuck.

@dv I’ve already started and have reduced my RTO days to 3. Been doing this for 4 months already now, and nobody says anything. I suggest you all do the same and stop living in fear of baldo.

Usually the loudest but weakest people with 'a plan' are the ones who hide under their desk and wait until the smoke clears. You sound like one of them.

@dh If you had real skills, education and a modicum of intellect, you wouldn't be here crying like a 3 year old about 'let's kick the walls and scream so we can get some cookies'. GTFO , you're a bore. You're weak. If you don't like it here, find another spot and go. But you won't cause you got nothing to offer.

"I’d love to see the government have a say in my private business employment. How stupid are some of you people?"

Welp. I live in Michigan. State passed Earned Sick Time that opened up 72 hours for me to use whenever I want no questions asked. That's been nice.

They will just fire you and replace you with H1B or offshore. They'll get like 5 offshore for the price of one of you and a clock is right at least twice a day--those 5 will eventually strike gold with brute force enough and get row 65, column 12 right one day without a type-o.

to the poster who wrote:

If you don't go back to work, beside the obvious termination of your employment, there are government consequences such as civil fines, legal actions, and in extreme cases, criminal charges.

I'm sure we are all waiting on you- be the first, lead by example!

now u sound like the id--t
saying criminal charges. it’s a free country people are allowed to walk off the job - work at T isn’t air traffic control !!!

"They can’t fire everybody."

They don't have to. Bad appraisal is enough to determine who goes out the door when staff is cut back. Not showing up to work is misconduct.

If you are not union, appraisal, then seniority decides who goes out the door. That bad appraisal for insubordination/misconduct and so forth will write the ticket to that door.

I’ve already rolled myself back to 3 days. Been doing it a while. Nobody says anything. If u do 5 days you’re only fooling yourself. Don’t know of anyone anymore being terminated for RTO. Just go in when you feel necessary.

It's sad to see how unintelligent my former colleagues are.
The People's Republic of China owns every ISP and router in America.
VPNs are no longer safe.
Rich will not tell you this.
That's why you're in the office 5 days a week.
Stop whining. Shared sacrifice...

I’d propose we unionize the office workers as well while we are doing that. I sure wouldn’t mind the CWAs benefits package and other perks that we don’t even come close to. Not to mention pay raises they get.

What if we decided that it should be societally unacceptable for one dum--ss CEO to make 30 million a year to je-k off in his office all day, while employees do the actual labor.
We used to frown upon sharecropping, now there’s too many easily propagandized bootlickers
