Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

What's the worst you've seen at Dell?

I'll start:

I'll paraphrase because I can't remember the exact sentence but it was a director that said something along the lines that he will "get more involved" again after being a total no show for the least 5 years and later when the culling started fu---d over hundreds of people.

Hindsight is 20/20 but I really wish I'd asked him on that call what the fu-k he actually ment.

Good honest people being targeted by dishonest and corrupt managers.

Cant rephrase anything. Just thinking about those episodes and my team members, the Sr.Dir and VP's behaviors and decisions.. gives me PTSD. Good thing : all the reports got laid off 2 yrs ago, ( they are still searching for jobs) but the Sr.Dir and VP are still spearheading the Latest Org in dell - based on their solid experience in Failure-launches and politics-ridden toxic leadership skills.

Kirk Lawrence's last words were: "WFR, I'm too old to start over". But the greed of corporate America doesn't care about people, it's all about the stock price!

@OP Hands down, Kirk Lawrence shooting himself in the RR parking lot after being laid off with no explanation and no dignity. It was age discrimination really.

The hardest part of all of that is Dell showed little remorse or care for Kirk or his family. All lip service. They do not care. They still don't care. They don't care if there's more who do the same. We're all just numbers. We're not people to them. They are heartless, soulless, Godless pieces of greedy trash.

years ago, working an overnight shift. There were 2 employees, both married, but not to each other having s-x in the cubicles out in the open. it obviously made people uncomfortable. another co-worker filmed it to show HR.

the person who filmed the event got fired, for filming po-n on company location. The 2 people involved, still kept their jobs.

Tragically an older 50+ employee shooting himself in the head in the RR2 parking lot after getting WFR.

I worked with a 20 year tenure employee who was laid off one fine day. This was early 2010s when in person layoffs were different. They had him pack his box of stuff right then and there. He was escorted to the front curb by manager and security. The problem was that he rode his bike to and from the office every day (10 miles) and didn't have a way to carry the stuff. This was before Uber, so he ended up waiting at the curb for more than an hour waiting for a ride to pick him and his bike up.

@OP I remember a group call once in ISG when Travis V (who is now gone...) actually asked the team what a Hypervisor was. I shiiit you not! And his team isn't much better. No background in enterprise anything.

2001 layoffs. Go to team room, get laid off, get escorted out of the building by a manager or HR. Do not say goodbye. Walk out. Come back during the weekend to get your cr-p.
That is how it was done. Brutal, looking back at it, but we were eventually conditioned to feel nothing. Not one of my prouder times as a human
