Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Laid off last year... What's the current RTO policy?

I realize these types of questions get asked a lot. Searching for previous posts is ok but usually yields a variety of responses that made it difficult to determine the actual policy/practice.

Before I got laid off no one was enforcing 8 hours in the office for 3 days a week. So I went in for a bit then did most of my hours at home because I had literally no co-located coworkers.

Is there reporting now that shows if you left early to finish at home? Is it still 3 days a week (this role I applied for is in CSBB).

Assuming there's at least some leeway with Dr appts etc I don't mind being in office 3 days a week. But I thought I heard rumors of 4 or 5 days in office for some groups before I got laid off - usually investment employees.

They are tracking time in the office - I wish I knew what the cut off was - I had been doing 7+ but recently got talked to saying it needed to be 8

@bk I scoff at that statement. I and a few others on our team done perfect across the board. And still weren't fought for to help us stay on when the business unit moved to Charlotte from Winston. A simple work from exception would have done wonders.
Some people get them no problem at all some get a perfectly 5 doctor sign off note saying traveling is detrimental to their health and it's flat out denied and not allowed to be permanent. Unless you somehow live within a 50 mile radius, then all of a sudden it's okay.

Still seems illegal they can get by with that. It's like a set of rules for Ada, then they have something that can somehow overrule a federal law....

@OP, I feel for you...you were displaced and you're trying to get back on the stage coach. I hope you are applying for many jobs outside of WF and aren't eagerly anticipating being rehired. Just seems like a long shot.
Best of luck to you and keep the faith. As I had to remind myself: most of the world doesn't work for Wells Fargo and are getting along just fine.

@eh My group was told that it's 8 hours minimum whether in-office or WFH, and that it is being closely monitored. One of my coworkers got a little talking-to for logging off half an hour early on a Friday after pulling several long days earlier in the week. They are not messing around, at least in Risk.

enterprise policy is a minimum of 3 days in office but each lob can set their own which some like risk and commercial have gone to 4. they also want you in office 8 hours a day, reports vary on how close that gets tracked, but likely somewhere from 6-8 for it to count. PTO >=4 hrs still counts as a day in office as do holidays.

It's less of an issue how bad it is now, rather how much worse it will be in the future. Shart wants to get rid of another 30-50k Americans, but doesn't want to pay them severance. If he can get 1-2% of FTEs to leave by tormenting them with more nonsense, he absolutely will.

@bk Nobody believes this. Enough people have watched their colleagues who are carrying their entire teams get laid off, or even get work managed away from them before the layoff to make it look more reasonable.

For the comment that high performers dont get laid off. Well they may get docked on their bonus bucks. People way over rate themselves. HR is tracking in office hours. If you are outside the range repeatedly you will be scored appropriately. That is the rating for are you consistently performing the basic requirements of your position. Short of hours and days = IM inconsistently meets for that rating.

No you wont be laid off but you will be doced.

If you’re a higher performer you aren’t getting laid off.

8 hours 3 days a week plus activity tracking with almost no flexibility. We were told you can log in workday if you have to leave early for an emergency so your boss can approve it. I can see that will go over great. So in other words no real flexibility

Oversight and monitoring of days in office AND hours in office is the new tool to either terminate employees or get employees to quit so they don’t have to avoid severance

Considering the above, the company is starting to shift toward 4 or 5 days, for example Corporate Risk.

Things are FAR worse than they were when you left the company the first time - make sure you’re prepared for terrible treatment f you decide to come back. Charlie and co. hate US workers and they’re turning the sc--ws in Hopes we leave on our own so they don’t have to pay severance.

It. Is. Terrible.

There is considerably less leniency than ever. RTO is just a tool/excuse they can use to dock you at review time and fire you with cause.

Eight hours appears to be getting enforced in most areas. Depending on LOB its either 3 or 4 days in office. There are reports for everything. If you need to go to the Dr either schedule it on a wfh day, if you can, or take PTO unless you plan to come back and finish your eight hours.
