Thread regarding Paramount Global layoffs

Bonus cut!!!

My manager finally allowed me to talk to HR about a salary increase seeing as I had taken on a lot more responsibility and staff under me.
HR has told me I can have a 7% salary bump but my bonus will be cut by 5%
I’ve not had an increase in 2 years but I’m in two minds. The monthly increase is ok, not good but the bonus cut is terrible. But the way the company was a going will we even get another bonus with the debt they are going to have to pay off.

It pretty much feels they are telling me they either accept it or stay on where I am. FYI I’m not on contract

Has anyone else been thru this process lately?
I’m confused.

You do not need your managers approval to talk to HR. And yes, Paramount has a long history of giving bonuses. If you are a manager or above and aren’t receiving then they are taking advantage of you.

@f0 Right, but no one got passed over with nothing which is why OP’s story sound suspicious.

@be this was not in fact the truth. managers had some flexibility to give people larger pay raises - i myself got a 7% bump before i left the company (likely because they were scared i would leave)

You guys get bonuses? We at one of the international offices always hear that this company never gives bonuses...

Something about this story sounds very fishy, especially as it was widely communicated that everyone in the company got the same increase across the board last year. Also, the bonus cut doesn’t make sense as those are usually tied to your job level and it doesn’t sound right that HR can arbitrarily change the percentage. The only exception I could envision is if you are getting paid at the top of your salary band and in instances like that, sometimes people get lump sum increases, but in general, you don’t just get passed over.

I don't believe DE would cut bonuses next year in this economy.
