Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Layoffs canceled again what’s going on

So apparently the August layoffs are completely canceled again.

At this point, does anyone actually know what’s going on at Oracle?

For weeks we’ve been hearing about another major round of cuts coming in August, managers supposedly making lists, double-digit reductions on some teams, 6 a.m. emails, cuts before September 1, etc. People have basically been sitting around waiting to find out whether they still have a job.

And now… nothing? Canceled again?

The constant back-and-forth is getting ridiculous. One week everyone is convinced a huge RIF is imminent, then the date moves, then rumors start again, and now supposedly August is off entirely.

Has anyone heard anything credible internally about what changed? Are the layoffs actually canceled, just postponed into September, or is nobody—including management—really sure what the plan is anymore?

Would especially like to hear from Oracle employees/managers who have gotten an actual update rather than another round of Blind rumors.

Oracle literally laid off 30k people last Tuesday in favor of replacing them with Phillipines workers. My buddy was one of the victims, a dedicated 16 year employee.

Why would you think they are "cancelled"? Likely they will be Sept 1, the first working day of the new quarter. That insures that people on bonus / commission plans work the last day of the quarter, as per the signed bonus / commission plan, to be eligible for payment. Otherwise, potentially O opens itself up to a lawsuit.

How can they be cancelled if they were never announced to begin with?

More like the predictions were off.

Back in March, my manager scheduled an unexpected 1:1 meeting with me. This happened in MDC, one week before the 6 a.m. emails in USA. I already knew what he was going to tell me because media reports on layoffs from earlier weeks had become kinda serious. Then, I was laid off.

Given the information on Oracle's debt and gigantic amounts of money invested in AI infrastructure, we know that occurrence of future layoffs is simply a question of when. Just hope for the best but expect the worst.

Nobody really knows what's going on, previous layoffs and the fallen are rarely mentioned again in meetings after they've happened.

Anyone daring to ask about future layoffs will be met with a smokescreen of corporate messaging "our employees are our most valued resource".

Where do these deadlines come from? Who says it has to happen on a certain date? This site is full of guesses and speculation. I realize that people are stressed out and want to know now but reality is the company decides when and how the layoffs will happen. It will happen, look at the financials and the headcount numbers. It will happen soon and it will happen again after that and then again. There is no end in sight.

I know at least three recent RIFs and all of them was at month end
There’s no choice to let employee go although oracle already paid full month salary
Squeeze up till end
