@1p7 I finally got ahold of someone to answer me besides the normal AskHR but only because I threatened engaging a lawyer. That got them to answer really damn quick.

@1p7 Unbelievable - and then again given its Gainwell NOT!

@19x Just as a heads up. I was in the same exact situation as you last year with Gainwell. They made it impossible to get a hold of anyone to provide documentation that you were employed there, and your old bosses will act like they never knew you. I did some research and got a hold of someone in corporate that provided a letter of employment. But it was a struggle.

@OP It turns out there were 75 people fired last Monday. Apparently there's a list of roles and ages at the end of the document. It shows who did get fired and who didn't. I haven't seen it, but it sounds like a CYA move to avoid an age discrimination thing.

@19x I am an older worker and they had to give us more than 7 days. My manager was my point of contact for the paperwork and she is the one that emailed it to me. Hope this helps. Keep your chin up!

I am trying to just separate and move on but this severance process is ran horribly. They say to email AskHR but then a week later and crickets from them. I know someone at Gainwell leadership reads this. Get your stuff together. If you are going to WFR folks at least have a point person who can answer questions. You want me to sign your document within 7 days but then wont answer a basic question I have before I sign!

I think just separating from them and moving on is the best solution.

Gainwell is well on the path to self destruction.

@qw I wish all you here the best of luck I was apart of a mass layoff from Gainwell last here around this same time. Yes it was tough and very shocking but you will get through it. I think the worst part of it all is when i did eventually get a job they wouldn’t even provide a reference. Just a letter of employment. Luckily my new job took my word for it, but just wanted to give everyone a heads up. Best of luck

@qw It’s definitely going to crash. It’s so poorly operated and is facing billions in debt that is coming due. They have no solid path to success.

It will happen slowly. But Gainwell is cooked.

This is why you shouldn’t work for a low budget corrupted company, their severance pay is low and disgusting, they refuse to accept any disputes on performance plans this company sabotaged people and then had their manager act to busy or go on a leave so no disputes can go through, this company needs to crash

Anyone laid off is far better off. It su-ks now but being as far away from them as possible is the best solution for you. I have been there.

And to anyone thinking of taking a job at Gainwell they should just read a little bit both on this site and others. If I had seen any of this I would have avoided them altogether.

Gainwell is not a good company and should be closed permanently.

We should all collectively make complaints against gainwell, do the states know they hired overseas candidates lol last time I checked Ohio had a problem with that… I feel sorry for the good people that got let go while Gainwell proves that they will continue to keep horrible TA junkies!! I’m glad people are finding ways to go to eeoc so it can be investigated who was laid off vs. retained was connected to discrimination, retaliation, protected complaints, or another unlawful reason.

@jw got to tell you I won’t be signing up to purchase. Junk debt bonds often times fail. Firms that utilize these usually have low credit ratings and are considered unstable. Sure hope anyone/firm buying these do their due diligence. Sounds dire. Will they are wont they default? That’s the $5.8 billion dollar question.

I voted for Trump , so yes this means budget cuts for Medicaid and layoffs. We all voted for this.

@OP It's almost certain that these layoffs are tied to this Veritas announcement that they are trying to refinance and sell junk bonds:

Gainwell Technologies has started the next leg of a broader $5.8 billion debt overhaul that marks the US software sector’s biggest financing of 2026 in the junk-debt market.

The Veritas Capital Fund Management -owned firm unveiled a five-year high-yield bond Tuesday that will be part of a $4.34 billion package that includes a leveraged loan. The bond may be sold as soon as Friday.

Both debt offerings, along with an amended and extended $1.46 billion second-lien term loan, would refinance Gainwell’s entire capital structure. It comes as the software sector has underperformed the broader leveraged-loan market by the most in years on concerns about how advances in artificial intelligence will disrupt businesses.

To anyone who has been let go from Gainwell: you're truly better off in the long run. You can't know this now, but you really are. Hope this helps.

@he that's the exact same notification I got. Look very carefully through the paperwork.

Benefits are terminated at midnight on your day of termination.
You probably got told that you can apply for other current open Gainwell positions, but what you probably did not get told is that you won't be eligible for rehire until 6 months from your termination date. Why bother? Why even apply for open positions at a company who made a business decision to let you go?
The severance package will be distributed only after they receive your signed separation agreement. That letter, asking you to sign, won't be sent to your personal email until the day before or the day of your termination date. There's a time limit to return the signed letter, but that time limit is documented in the letter you need to sign. If you don't return that signed letter in time, you don't get your severance pay.
Do the math with your severance pay amount that's in the WFR letter - make sure that amount is your new pay rate amount (remember what little raises we recently got were official with payroll before we got the WFR phone call).

  1. We do not get a payout for the PTO we accrued, or the sick leave, or the floating holidays.

Like you were saying - if there are open positions on other states, just move us instead of laying us off. A better business model would be to retain good talent than to start over with new people who don't even know what HIPAA stands for. They want us to be plug-and-play 'resources' so we can perform our role in any implementation, but yet they won't follow that and move us to a new implementation that needs our role filled. Mind you, there are people who recently rolled off implementations who have not yet been assigned a new one. They have nothing to do! Not that they should get laid off, instead of someone who is still assigned to a project, but wouldn't it make more sense to lay off the people who aren't actually producing anything for their paycheck?

As sh---y as it is to have just been laid off, this is a good thing because Gainwell is not a good company to work for. We just need to figure out the benefits thing and find a new, better, employer ASAP.

@b8. They have to fund the 25% - 35% annual bonuses for directors and above. Over 500 eligible. Plus there is some sort of equity.

We get scraps. Do the math - their combined share exceeds the avg 1.5 - 2% for us.

It seems they cut a whole swath of HR, Legal, and other corporate functions. Trying to make the books look good before a "sale". Whoever buys this company has a lot of mess to clean up.

They let go bunch of talent acquisition folks..they kept the horrible ones, you know the ones that make the whole department hostile , it will crash and burn because the reputation of gainwell is bad as it is…no one understands their overseas “TA folks.” Horrible reviews, tik tok posts, and fb posts about it.

Take it as a sign folks and pray to get something better.
