I think the key thing here is, less people but whomever is left will be using AI. You still need skillful people to understand the mission/product etc.
Of course, like all companies, they are not hiring new/young people. You always need new/young people to advance through the ranks gathering knowledge to become the knowledgeable ones. I don't think they think this way. It's all short term gain.
